FTA: "So IBM may have suckered Sony into buying a supercomputing coprocessor disguised as a gaming chip".
Well no, not really. Most HPC workloads are double-precision heavy, and while the Cell/BE chip has very good single-precision numbers the double-precision performance isn't very good.
...simply because work stopped for the two minute reboot
If you are using HPQ or IBM server hardware in a typical business environment it's more like six to ten minutes because of the long post cycles on servers.
I was intimately involved with Microsoft from 1986 into the mid 90's. I see far too many parallels between the then young Microsoft and the past few years of Googles growth. Google is planning on nothing less that total world domination, just as Microsoft was at the time and later (more or less) achieved. Have the public learned nothing from the past 15 years of Microsoft dominance? Being dependent on a large corporation as a single source for too many things is a bad idea in general and a worse idea when it becomes a single source for information (and being a single source for the *location* of information is almost the same).
Yeah I need tinfoil hat, but late 80's or early 90's who thought Microsoft was going to become what they did?
The default theme for Firefox is butt-ugly. I'm all for slick desktops (hey, I have several OSX boxes along with my many Linux boxes) but Firefox is a clear case of a product gaining popularity because it's functionality and security are superior to it's competition.
- No LVM support! It's more or less a "server" distribution but no LVM? How can that be?
- No grub. This one really doesn't matter that much. After years of using lilo I made myself switch to grub for new installs and really hated it until I got used to it (kinda like vi). Now lilo seems antiquated.
On the plus side Slack hasn't ever had a stupid amount of dependencies like those RPM based distros. With the RPM distros you install Z and you get Q, R, M, U and J as well even if you didn't want them. With Slack you pretty much just get Z thank you very much.
If it just had LVM support and I'd go back to it in a heartbeat.
Oh Fucking Please! Just give it a rest!

Whatever happened to freedom of religion? For a bunch of people who continually rant about free {software|speech|etc} you seem to me incredibly intolerant.
Why whould you care what someone else beleives, or spends their money on? If someone worships goats or something why would I care?
Religion, like software and OS's, is a personal choice.
And hey, my Mom and Dad give 15% of thier annual income to the Catholic Church - they must be brainwashed!!! OhMyGod - call the deprogrammers!!!
I could not disagree more. Who among us hasn't landed what we thought was a 'great job with a great company' only to have it turn into a living nightmare due to mergers, management changes, policy changes?
The company I work for now was great - two years ago. Now it's mired in stupidity and process due to an ill-advised merger. My days there are now few in number.
As for 'public defamation of a prior employer', why not? You say it's unprofessional, I say it's fair game, and in most cases it does public good. I have chosen not to accept positions with some entertainment studios due to former employees bad experiences. Saved myself grief and stress. And that's bad?
US corporate employers generally don't give a damn about you, your ideals, your goals, your ethics or your beliefs. They just want workers that will come in on time, sit doen & shut up, and bang out code for 8 hours. Why should RH be any different?

Repeat after me: Google is not my friend.
Would Firefox be so popular if it were ugly?

14.1 XGA, Onboard NIC w/boot prom, USB. Price point less than $1000US. This would be a great product for home/small offices.
BTW: VMS has been doing this for about 15 years
This is like trying to figure out why someone is a great driver by examining his car. You are what you are - the body is irrelevent.
Not venting spew - just have an opinon. Shitheads like you always attack others without ever contributing anything to THE TOPIC AT HAND.
Get a life flameboy.
