I can't help but wonder if this comes from the proverbial, "Jimmy" downloading it on his Mom and Dad's computer because they keep complaining about "The Blue E" getting hijacked. Jimmy tells them to, "Click on the Fox", but they keep clicking on "The Blue E" because to them it is, "Getting on the internet." Similar events happen with Jimmy's girlfriend and Boss.
The only other scenario I can think of is that there are a lot of web developers out there who are still trying to get it to work in IE.
When I can't buy certain products because they are now placed on restriction lists, can't read certain materials because they will place me on a terror watch list and my child's education is stifled because once common knowledge is now classified as sensitive state secrets then yeah, my rights have been violated and I notice it.
Agreed. After SP2 came along XP became a fine little OS that was reasonably strong and secure for those who had been paying attention to the state of the world for the last 10 years or so.
The hard "g" in gibs is a matter of preference (often like the "g" in.gif, though I've always found calling them "jiffs" to be a little weird). When the term was coined there are id employees who used the soft "g" instead (as the word's root is giblets).
I'll have to agree with this comment. Why should Linux users even be concerned with getting their machine with a pre-loaded OS, especially when they may switch over to a new distro weeks/months later?
I can't fully agree with that. As society gets larger offenses that were once wrist-slapers are now serious crimes. 30 years ago if Billie-Bob pulled up into the school yard with a rifle in his dad's truck no one thought anything of it or at worse maybe they would take the gun and call dad to pick it up. Today someone is calling the cops, news crews are going to show up and something is going to go on someone's (unofficial) public record. Kids may not have Mom and Dad dishing out discipline anymore, but every other than the parents are more than willing to dish it twice as hard.
As for this law it is ridiculous. It is nothing more than a way a political can stand on a stage and say that he is there to defend the innocent without really doing anything. If we were really were as obsessed with pedophilia as say we are we would execute anyone convicted of child molestation hang their quartered remains from every street light.
Hurray for the Bogeyman! Because without him we wouldn't have a job.
Am I the only person who sees this story coming from the Daily Mail as just a little odd, given their support for the Nazis during the pre-WWII era? I tend to take their views with a grain of salt (for example are the schools who decline to teach the Holocaust publicly or privately funded?).
With all of that said I find the concept of "balanced treatment" in an educational environment revolting. Plurality's sake shouldn't lend itself to falsehoods, lies and distortions and if a fact hurts someone's feeling I'm sorry, but maybe they should just accept that the Earth is round, not flat.
I would suggest Chami's HTML-Kit. It has a fine Word 2K tag removal feature. It has saved me a few hours of staring blankly at thousands of lines of useless MS Source.
Most of the greatness of the film was lost in the english translation. Whenever they "port" a good anime to the west a lot is lost and Akira is a prime example. You have to pause in the middle of the film and toss in the exposition. It just kills the film.
Will the new film be any good? Probably not.
Will it help people appreciate the original. Yes.
Most people view anyone who enjoyed Akira as someone who hasn't seen the light of day for the last 16 years and breaths through his mouth because of hayfever.
Lindows appears to be more suited for MS users who are disenchanted with Windows. I think there were a lot of people who were angered by MS's last liscense agreement.
That is easy, we just line both of them up against the wall. Two for the price of one.
Or refuse you treatment for preexisting conditions.
He few months back he ran a review about how he used a Mac and actually enjoyed the experience.
I hear corn is pretty popular these days.

So buying from ExtremeTech is supposed to get me laid or something?

Talk about salt in a wound.

Because David "Acolyte of the High Temple of Mac" Pogue wrote the article.

Honestly, why is anyone even posting something from C/Net on Slashdot? They are just another lobbyist mouthpiece.
The researchers failed to notice the missing ingredient, "Tar". If you follow the money I'm sure Gus Gorman had a hand in this.
