    Look up the Barratry statutes...
Yes, but unfortunately, these are almost never enforced. It relies on lawyers policing other lawyers, and they all have a strong interest in being able to commit these types of abuse.

Ever hear the line "Ignorance of the law is no excuse."?

Actually, this is a 20th century change. For hundreds of years in British and then American common law, unknowing technical violations of the law were _not_ considered crimes. Prosecutors dumb enough to try it were smacked hard by the judiciary.

It would be amusing, but might not happen. Remember, this would be a prosecution of a federal crime(DMCA). The question at hand is whether a crime was committed, not HP's competence.

If the defense were allowed to call such witnesses from HP at all, the prosecution would object to this line of questioning. They would argue that HP's incompetence is irrelevant to the question at hand: whether a crime was committed. If successful, the whole line of questioning would be halted.

It has transcripts for the shows, and recipes for each show that link back to foodtv.com. I don't think the latest season is up yet, but lots of great stuff there.

Uh, yeah. I have about 70 books in my office, a filing cabinet, and maybe a half dozen project binders. That's a big assed briefcase to haul around.

  7. Re:People are different, for crying out loud! on Aeron Chairs As Stupidity Barometers · · Score: 1

You may have already know this, but... There's one thing I've found about Aerons and comfort: chair size. The Aeron comes in 3 different sizes. The downside to how these chairs are designed is that if you're sitting in the wrong size chair for your height/weight, it can be _extremely_ uncomfortable. The small chairs are killer on larger folks, and the large chairs keep small folks from sitting properly, leading to slouching, back and leg pain, etc. If you find the chair uncomfortable, you should check and see if there is a more suitable size available for you, if you haven't already. I had to do this at my job, where all the chairs are Aerons, but 90% of them are not in my size.
