I think we are all forgetting where the real accountablity should land, in terms of sensorship and the corruption of the youth - the parents! My parents (by actively taking part in my development) did a pretty good job of keeping me away from such damaging material.
The rest of the world shouldn't suffer because of the neglegent parent(by ignorance or other) or over-protective parent. I take responsiblity for my actions perhaps others should too.
Another fun way, along the same vein, is whatever they're selling, say you just signed up last month. ex:
caller: would you like our new and improved...
you: I already signed up for the new and improved... when you guys called last month.
-then you will hear a bit of paper rustling and an appoligetic phone slave trying to get off the phone as fast as they can. It's kinda fun to hear it in reverse!
What's going to happen after this is we'll find another media,technology, etc that somehow is slightly 'grey'(read: loophole) in these DRM matters and milk it for all its worth and then some. And by the time they finally pass another one of these laws, the large corporations will be crying with their empty bags of cash for another solution to this blight on their bottom lines. The first and cardnal problem being that they are milking us dry first by getting together and setting prices for media at non market-derived prices (= =market collusion= =illegal). Proof: why are all CD's no matter who/where made the same price?
I can see that the RAM drive would be a cool idea (I would love to brag that my machine runs w/o HD-which would only be possible w/Linux;) ) but I think we're overlooking something just as important as cost or performance...space. Specificly, how much room would this beast take up? Well, rounding here and there, I figure that the average 168 pin RAM Mod is about 4 in long and about 1 in tall and about.125 in wide and taking into account.125 gap between Modules (for heat and install) a 25 gig RAM drive would take up 37.25 in length and be 4" tall ( that's figuring 256MB simms and not acounting for connection,etc.). IF you had a 'card' that distributed the RAM across both sides, it would be still over 18" long and over 8" in girth! Broken into 4s envision a box 9x9x3.
One question: what kind of power would this kinda thing take?
Hey, back off, man. The show wasn't half bad. You have to give it for the ernest try on the part of the writers to actually give a character more than one dimension. For crying out loud, look at Deep sleep nine or Voyager- any one of the cast could be replaced with cardboard standies an no-one would know!
I just love the fact that when thinds break they don't just fix it with a new word!
Perhaps the best thing is that the crew exhibits a bit of wonder and awe because they actually haven't been there before!
I realize Scott bakula is no Shatner, but I can do with the saccriney-sweet tast of the stand-in.
I regard dreamweaver as 'the lazy man's editor' personally. And I am a lazy man-and also a busy man. It's alot quicker on the front end. i could sit there and hammer it out in notepad or something...or I could use that time to get a soda, clean belly button lint,etc. Props to the purists, but I don't get paid that much and I'd like to use my mind accordingly.

I had a Cable hook-up and I'm a poor art student living on ramen noodles and cheap booze (long live Old Thompsons!). The price difference between an At&T phone hookup and cable is small. buy generic cereal and you're even!
How far back do we have to go in backwards compatibility?

After starting with RedHat, I have to say that SuSE gives the beatdown on RedHat for ease of use and general hardware compatiblity on the first try, which means alot to us with cobbled-up computer systems at home!
