Right, except that there is a big difference between music and movies. I go to the movies a lot (indy stuff) and love music. I have 20 DVDs, I have over 600 CDs. I've bought TotalRecorder to archive audio streams on the web of live concerts that I want to keep. I think some people want to KEEP music a lot more than they'd want to keep movies.
You're so right about OGG. It's a shame. My best friend has an iPod and bitches every time I send him OGG files. I have found 160kbps OGGs take up approximately what 128kbps MP3 files take up but sound more like 192kbps MP3s. It's too bad for OGG. I'm dying to try out AAC though...
The proposed relaxations of the media ownership rules this year, the 'stuffed turkey' Energy bill, the Medicare bill, the Boeing DOD deal, the Halliburton 'rebuilding' of Iraq, and now THIS.
This is what GWB stands for: if you're a big business that can fund my reelection campaign, you have a friend in the White House.
Happy Thanksgiving, don't choke on the turkey.
I see you're focusing on the important stuff: disgruntled baseball fans & small time crooks. Next decade, when you get a chance, try prosecuting Ken Lay for the billions he stole or some real terrorists, now that you have that Patriot Act.
This way, if the Apache Foundation doesn't do the same with Geronimo, they can sue the cr@p out of them or they customers. Or may be, they just want BEA to buy them out? OK, that's a troll.
Thery're going after the same problem. After a while, all the solutions are going to look the same. A lot of people have written similar code (abstraction on top of log4j, etc.). I've copied naming conventions & idioms from stuff I read in the Jakarta Commons source. Is that illegal?
If they're so bent on protecting this stuff, they should file a patent. Drumroll...snare. OK, that was sarcasm.
More seriously, I think the JBoss project needs a good dose of modesty. They have some great stuff, but so do other people. The Apache Foundation has done a lot for the community, they should cut these guys a break. They should be flattered the the Apache guys are imitating what they're doing.
the files also contain Visual Basic script and code for voting system databases that could allow someone to learn how to rig voting results. The programmer spoke on condition of anonymity.
that's what we're talking about here: VB script! I'm sure it's real secure.
No kidding it's time for a standard: OS, access to the boxes, protocols, install procedures, app, app validation, audit, the works.
Ballots in France are anonymous for the exact reason you pointed at. No one is allowed to enter 'l'isoloir' (place where you place your ballot in the envelope) with you either.

The studio would like to sell you a screen backgroung for your cell for a modest $5.00. Have a nice day.
that's my fave.
I know 2 people switching their landline to Vonage because of the new rule. It's going to shake up more than the cell market.

As long as the taxes collected are properly appropriated, which remains to be seen. This museum sounds a little silly to me.
no less than 4 popups to read one article. I guess times must be difficult for *them*.

This means that after each 'correct' vote, the voting machine wires $20 to your bank account.
I have not used proprietary software for many years. I run a 5 node Linux cluster at home. I use Gnome.
you don't get out much, do you?

I can already hear it in the White House:
"Rogue states. Let's bomb them!"

Search for Linux on MSN: 365 hits
Search for Linux on Google: > 95,000,000 hits
Microsoft, your fair and balanced search engine!
The code looks similar. So what.

I was going to post the exact same comment. Scary...

I guess in 2 days we'll know who really won the California recall vote.

this could be the end of stupid software patents in the US. Go W3C!
France has a similar system: paper and envelopes. You pick the voting 'coupon' of your choice and put it in an envelope. Low tech but damn reliable.
And they have the nerve to brag about how they help 'protect' the Bill of Rights.

bring it on, we can't wait to code to the new standard!
