I'm not familiar with the software, but the zune hardware is indeed quite nice. I'd get one to keep in the car if it weren't for the fact that MS's locked down firmware scheme makes it impossible for me to install rockbox on it.
Speaking of rockbox, I believe there is a nano version. It might be an interesting experiment to try using that on your malfunctioning nano to see if the issues continue or not
If you're lucky, it'll fall out like it did in Charlotte, NC--haggling over the outsourcing contract (whether the money split is on net or gross proceeds iirc) will lead the city to turn the lights off altogether.
I used to work for a dialup ISP that broke into the wireless market--fair enough, it was a rural area with no prospects at the time for DSL or cable.
Too bad it was hilly and heavily forested. Service calls got real interesting once people who had great signal in the dead of winter had all the trees on their property burst into leaf.
Besides that, they crammed all their customers onto a pair of T1s (the connection was unimpressive in performance to say the least) which brings me to another question--in an area where there aren't any wired broadband options I'd assume getting an optical backbone might not be feasible, so are these WISPs using banks of T1/T3s to get to the rest of the world?
What did you think about the layout of your store? The last CC I was in (late last year, helping a friend find a new release console game) had cramped aisles that seemed haphazardly stocked. Definitely didn't make me inclined to look at the rest of the store.
I recall playing a free game like this via Installer long before the app store was live. I could have sworn it was just called "crayon physics" though...the one I'm thinking of had a pretty big repository of addon levels and puzzles.
The one thing I've been considering ordering caffeine for is to mix up my own energy drinks (Something that won't stain my teeth the way tea and coffee will, or cost a fortune the way canned ones do)
Basically store-brand sugar free crystal-light or koolaid mixed with a little caff powder and maybe juice or something to add some body. This is basically how everyone I'm acquainted with (athletes or weight lifters almost all) who do appreciable amounts of caffeine ingest it.
Morale doesn't usually go up when everyone becomes overworked due to heavy handed staff cutting, which seems to be the usual way of things.
I would tend to agree with you re: the going back to school comment, the only thing is bills still have to be paid. I have trouble envisioning someone with a family securing enough grants to pay rent/mortgage AND tuition. (This said having gone to school with someone who had 3 children who was falling into great debt getting his EE degree)
As a very good example, look at all the old COBOL programs still running banks and payroll systems. Just why do you think they are *still* running them?
Because quite likely nothing is documented, no one who worked on it initially is around anymore, and no one has the balls to make any much needed changes or port it on the off chance that something subtle breaks. Then the bank comes down on you and your company like the wrath of an angry god.
Gamers (their target market, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise) almost uniformly bitch about Creative's shitty drivers, or the lackluster hardware--but there aren't many good alternatives, especially when games sound best with Creative's EAX enabled.
Once some other outfits start being able to emulate EAX worth a crap (Asus, I'm hoping you come through with the Xonar) expect to see their market share plummet.

Good. Trolling audiophiles is part of being a slashdot member.

Wintermute, Neuromancer...
You forgot about all the parents that do want to participate, but have a horribly bent idea of what constitutes good education :)
(Yeah, I have a number of classmates teaching highschool)
No they don't. I see just as many asinine spelling and grammar mistakes from the sales folks I work with as anyone else.
A salesperson just needs to be personable and able to bullshit well.

IIRC it potentially messes with animals that use the moon to navigate.

When I bother to spend the money on one, I stick to sugarfree drinks for just that reason.
I suspect 200-400 calories of HFCS makes up an appreciable bit of the initial "boost" that makes those drinks so popular.

Why is that worse than any other way of getting caffeine?
saying "Our Coffee is too burnt". bleh.
It is. Darker is not always better when it comes to coffee. ;)
Sounds like your company did its layoffs "right"

The governor getting impeaches is also gossip about someone you don't know, it just happens to be something you're interested in.
Where do contracts like that exist again? In my experience sales will always make a contract as easy on the customer as possible.

With product like that is it any surprise?
I wonder if, since detergents alter surface tension there could be some ill effects on gas diffusion across cell membranes?
No, but that isn't hurting their sales.

Lots of people still use an antenna to get sports broadcasts that aren't always available via satellite or cable.
I'm fairly sure being sent anything unsolicited doesn't allow you to flaunt copyright or patents.
Heh, that too :)
+1 sig relevant to comment.
