    >Brown repeatedly refers to Linus' work with Andrew Tanenbaum's Minix operating system as an example of some kind of wrongdoing. I'm not sure if Ken Brown wants us to think that Linus stole some of Tanenbaum's Minix code or whether he wants us to think that it's wrong to create a workalike program. The latter is definitely a theme throughout the book; time and again Brown implies that workalikes are somehow morally and legally wrong.

It IS wrong; just look at the way Microsoft ripped off Apple.

How are we any different from our clueless parents?

I really do worry that I'M the grandpa now, and that I just don't "get it" anymore.

Musical preferences being so arbitrary, how can you really know it isn't you the problem.

For every argument you give me about how Britney's music is crap, I can find THOUSANDS of people with opposing viewpoints.

I propose that based on scientific reasons, music HASN'T gotten worse. It's probably at EXACTLY the same level of quality it was 500 years ago.

The ONLY way to tell, as far as I'm concerned is by the test of time; whatever stays will be proven good. Or something like that.

Once more users and developers flock to these solutions, the level of quality will keep rising.

It really is going to be very interesting.

I blame it all on the legal precedent established in the 1800s that gave corporations the same rights as individuals.

It's incredibly sad that a nation founded on the ideals of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is now chasing all that for corporations to wield.
