It was only 4 days ago that Slashdot posted an individual's email address in a hyperlink on the front page. (It was "pat at sourceforge dot net".) This is the site where the majority of the users, being computer-savvy, don't EVER post their email addresses in plaintext. It makes me sick how inconsiderate the editors here can be.
Your quest for the first post has failed. Spain's empire has fallen into ruin. Mexico and Texas have turned their backs on you. The queen has resorted to selling herself to Net Video Girls for food and shelter. The name of Anonymos Covardos will go down in Spanish history as the downfall of their glory.
Nobody's trying to "stifle competition through political influences". Using the government to enforce a monopoly would be doing that. He's trying to remove government intervention.
I hereby claim my right of prima nocte, by which CmdrTaco's wife will be mine for the first night of their marriage. On the following morning, I shall return her to him, and when the bleeding stops, she will be his for all his pleasures.
I'm sure I'm going to get modded down for criticizing Slashdot, but to hell with my karma....
Most Slashdot users don't post their exact email addresses on the pages. They put NOSPAM or REMOVETHIS in the middle of the address. It's a very intelligent thing to do - spammers have robots that harvest email addresses from web pages.
So what do we do when we get angry with someone? We post a hyperlink their email address on the front page. No NOSPAM. No link to a page CONTAINING the email address. The email address right where it can first be Slashdotted, and then harvested by spammers.
Nader, you fucking raghead spoiler. How was that 3% of the vote you got? Oh wait, you probably didn't even notice, you were too busy riding on your flying carpet. I know this is a little offtopic, but it doesn't same fair to me that Slashdotters are so gung-ho about the GNU GPL. I understand that many of you truly believe in freedom. But then why would you use a license that actually RESTRICTS freedom?
CmdrTaco wouldn't have given us a (-1, Jew) moderation option if he didn't want us to use it. Haven't you ever wondered why he posts so many links to articles written in German?

I really believe in Free Software. It's well known in the Free Software community that Richard Stallman pioneered Object Oriented Programming with the first release of GPP. However, believing that "information wants to be free", he refused to patent it, releasing it under the GPL.
Well, his heart was in the right place, but he overestimated humanity's ability to do the right thing. Sure enough, along came Ole-Johan Dahl and Kristen Nygaard. They realized this was an opportunity to become world-famous for someone else's work, and they took credit for Stallman's brilliant idea.
Can we stop this award before it's too late? I really don't know.
