  1. Irrelevant on After 4 Years, HydrogenAudio Opens New 128kbps Listening Test · · Score: -1

What is the point of this test? Everybody uses WMA anyway. MP3 is long dead. And the contestant we all hoped for, OGG, never even got into starting position. The only other format in some use is AAC, and that sounds horrible in comparison to WMA.

  2. Apple codestandards on Apple Still Has Not Patched the DNS Hole · · Score: 1, Funny

The genius coders at Apple probably saw this bug years ago and fixed it then. Of course there is no need for a patch now.

I call bullshit! "This increased amount of componentization, while satisfying the DoJ and EU, also led to performance issues due to the increased number of libraries which comprise the operating system." So, it is DOJ and EU that is to blame for the sloooooow Vista? Well, I remember them "rewriting" the whole shit before Vista came out too, but maybe that was a lie?

Actually, the tax should go through. We really need it so, more money to the telcos would help getting dsl to rural areas. Of course the extra money brought in would be marked for expansion to get more customers and better services.

  13. Monopolies on Broadband Data Improvement Act Clears Committee · · Score: 0, Flamebait

This will never happen. The US is ridden with monopolies which hinder a proper rollout of broadband. In any city in Europe (my city with 50.000 citizens eg) you can choose between 10-20 broadband carriers, via wlan, phonecarriers or tvcable. As long as you have no choice in carriers you end up with poor quality, slow broadband.

No company with over 50 users would ever build their own windows servers anyway. They all use HP/Dell/IBM/etc. If the motherboard dies, the vendor gives you a new one, that is equal to the old. Windows wont notice any difference. Only "amateur"-built systems fail because of this. If you build your own servers to use in production, buy spare parts. It's as easy as that.. Really..

  20. Warning on Fonality Acquires Trixbox · · Score: 0

Stay away from Trixbox. It has the same problems as A@H.. The developers promised us to be able to upgrade, but it still requires you to wipe your system to upgrade.. Not very userfriendly at all! You spend a lot of time configuring, and then a new version comes out, you hit some bug in the version you are using and ask on the mailing list.. And get the answer back "Upgrade, thats an old version". And there you go, doing the same million configuration changes again..
