Among P4s, perhaps. But Athlons and PowerPCs are divided into sub-models whose performance at a given clockspeed can vary greatly. Witness the MPC 7450 vs 7400 and the AMD Palomino vs Thunderbird.
that's very interesting - I had no idea it was IBM's. It's a great system, bu there are exactly THREE monitors on the market that use it - Apple's 3 studio displays. PC commoditisation is to blame, of course.
I thought that Americans bought cars by the Kilo (pound?). I didn't realise that some of you try to work out power to weight ratios. It must be very disheartening for you when you do.
what's wrong with ADC is that Apple are the only fuckers using it. Why didn't Apple try to get it adopted industry-wide before releasing it? They should patent and licence these connectors - look how well firewire is doing, I bet there are plenty of PC users who would appreciate a monitor connector that carries both analogue and digital video, power and USB. They don't even fit ADC to the iMac for Christ's sake!
absolute rubbish! intel make plenty of SPEC submissions, Motorola NONE (they give you an estimate...). PS: this comment was typed on a good old PowerMac running TWO good old Motorola MPC 7400s @ 450Mhz. In Omniweb 4.05 under MacOSX.
nothing lasts forever, especially in the games machine market (and let's face it, the Amiga WAS a games machine). The fact that Commodore managed to sell what 6, 7 million machines has to be considered SOMETHING of a success. When I was at school, it was the No.1 machine to have and had ALL the best games. Megadrive (Genesis?) was pretty feeble by comparison.
damn straight - you pay more for a Mac coz u r paying for hardware AND software development. You just wastin money if you inshtall some other OS. Have you seen those little BriQ things that terrasoft are making? now you're cooking with Yellow Dog!
YDL 2.0 is all very interesting, but what about Terrasoft's briQ machines - no that's something special. Apple should invest some money in this company and help them make a success of the briQ - that's gotta be a superior product right there.
hey! i second that emotion! I am being forced to use shitty MS Intenet Exploiter coz your crappy new code is pissing off my beautiful Omniweb. Are you guys being paid by BillG or what?
the ANN in my Newton understands me so well, sometimes I think she - sorry it - loves me. At night she sleeps under my pillow too. Keyboards? who needs them when you can have a mchine that LOVES you?
do you have the nagging feeling that Mac users are laughing at you or something? not getting invited to the beautiful people's parties maybe? x86 chip on you shoulder perhaps?
London is a bloody NIGHTMARE to cable, irrespective of the fact that it's already one of the most densely cabled areas of planet Earth. You can already get ADSL or any type of leased line that you can name in central London if you so desire, you can also use one of four state-of-the-art cellular networks if that is your wish. This new wireless service is only novel insofar as its the first such CONSUMER provision, and will enabled NTL to compete with BT's Openwoe in areas that they don't currently operate. We are excited aboput this because most Brits feel the same way about BT as they do about Microsft - a monopoly that does it's utmost to ruin your life at every opportunity.
there's loads of related stats at oecd.org, and yes, the UK is the fourth largest world economy now, it overtook France only because the OECD measures in US Dollars and the Euro situation has pushed us up. The French are still richer than us, just not is USD. It is, however, plainly ridiculous to look at London as anything other than one of the world's richest cities. At a rough guesstimate, I reckon London's economy would be at least four times that of PORTUGAL'S.
spot-on, they just don't offer their service in London. It's NTL that are trialling THIS wireless service, using a licence granted to Mercury which became CWC which sold their consumer infrastructure to NTL. A someone living in W1 all I can say is ABOUT FSCHKING TIME!
I know it doesn't look to promising - but you've got to check one out in the flesh - it's a really nice design. Light, tough and thoroughly practical. The screen has an extra-robust external glass to cope with school use. I love mine - best laptop I ever used!

I'd switch "smart CPU" back on unless you want it to melt...

only on the TwinView card, numb-nuts. Doesn't ANYBODY EVER read the data sheets?
torque is most certainly not the same thing as power to weight ratio. Find a dictionary quickly before you make an even bigger ass of yourself.

ah! I see you remember me from my days doing Sports Report, or possibly my brief stint on The Day Today team. Great days... great days...

hang on, the Amiga was nowhere in Japan - would you consider that a flop?
I'm going to put together a petition to insist that MS permanently delays XBOX in the UK too. Who's with me?

amen - I like the ASCII art boys better

"1ghz alphas = 1 very faster processor than motorola or amd or intel." if you're gonna pull that shit, what about the Ultra SAPRC III?
