I think you made a mistake there, you'll find that Apple can do some REALLY nice optimisations when they put their programmers to work on a problem - Altivec is a bit of a joke until you find something that Apple bothered to optimise for it, then it screams.

I wouldn't worry about this guy too much. As you say, he's a much easier target than cellphone users are, but it's really just a phenomenon that's indicative of the level of cellphone penetration in your market. In the UK we suffered from this kind of crap a few years ago, with all kinds of yet-to-be-users trying to wage war on cellphones. As penetration has deepened, these idiots have all but disappeared - presumably most are now happy cell users.
"I do not know what "residuals" you are refering too but when you think of a car as anything other then basic transportation, you are buying status and nothing more"
There's nothing wrong with buying "status" at a higher price if others are prepared to pay a higher price for that same "status" when you come to sell your vehicle. By "residuals" I mean the residual value of the car, a calculatio that is taken VERY seriously by car buyers in the UK, where new cars are often assessed for cost over a 3 year period.

Oh. is there an American round of the WRC now?
And the Viper? Fuck off! It's a piece of plastic junk with a TRUCK engine, that still gets outdragged by a TVR. The Viper is an embarrasment, as is the Corvette.
And an 1180kg car with 500hp, no I've never driven such a thing, but any fool can make an engine produce a lot of power - witness the nitro brigade.
That's all perfectly true, but his point still stands. Why buy an Audi over a Seat? Better industrial design and more functional implementation. Costs more, but the residuals are higher - very much like a Mac in fact.

Hang on - Americans don't drive cars, they drive agricultural machinery with leather seats, aircon and cupholders. One of the principal features of this type of vehicle is enormous mass of between 2 and 3 thousand kilos, thus it's perfectly understandable that one of these things should require over 300 hp so it might keep a reasonable pace with delivery vans, passenger cars and pizza mopeds.
Normal passenger vehicles in the rest of the world are plenty fast if their engines produce 200hp. Sadly, Americans don't know about the rest of the world and think motorsport equals monster trucks, drag racing and something called an 'oval'.
The X Serve is also intended as a rack-mount workstation for audio and video use.
And IP over Firewire has excellent performance - my experience is that, in practice, Ip over FW400 is nearly as fast as GigE, so over FW800 it should be even better.
There ISN'T any free space in the case - that's why Apple only give you two drive bays. It's a real shame too, it makes the G5 SUBSTANTIALLY more expensive for video work.
I just wrote "beat up martin" into my Graffiti 2 Palm Tungsten T2. What did I get?

Your question doesn't make any sense. If you look at a colouyr film slide, do you believe that it's a liuttle window into another dimension? Detail does not in itself confer realism.
Sort of - you only get the full install disc if you shell out for a retail copy, otherwise you get a restore disc and no developer tools disc.

Oh no, I've been hanging around here for AGES and I can confidently assure you that there are THOUSANDS of morons here.
Some would say I'm one of them.
