Is that why both Boeing and Lockheed Martin built prototypes, then? The Boeing SST jet was an engineering fiasco - that's why the Americans never built one. The LM 'plane was, by all accounts, a very elegant design. Very much like Concorde, in fact...
"One problem with it is that early on in its career, it was determined that supersonic travel over populated land could shatter windows, upset livestock and generally annoy people."
As someone who has lived in Concorde's flightpath (about 5 miles from the end of the runway) I can confidently assure you that - while certainly noticeable - Concorde is significantly less annoying than a) some twat on a Harley b) an unladen 38 tonne truck or c) some boy racer exploring the rev limiter on his BMW 325. Loud, but nothing special if you live in an urban environment. Bear in mind that a successor to Concorde WAS designed which was quieter, more efficient, longer ranging and had a greater payload.
Really sad to see it go - technical considerations aside it just LOOKED so graceful in flight. It was just an awe inspiring sight to see it every time.
You're quite wrong. USB was designed to REPLACE serial ports, not to supplement them. Apple REPLACED it's serial and ADB interfaces with USB in one stroke, Wintel vendors STILL haven't done that except in their rare 'legacy free' models.
So Apple DID blaze a USB trail, and IS doing so again with Bluetooth because of the excellent OS support for BT that it's had for well over a year now.
Can you explain to me what the point of ripping DVDs is? If it's just to steal movies, I think you'll find that most Mac users just fork over the $15 for the DVD, or else just hit the "duplicate" command in the finder and keep the WHOLE DVD on their HD. You can fit a lot of DVD-9s on a 250Gb hard drive...
I got the train from Voss to Bergen a couple of weeks ago, and I was impressed by the quality of the service. I think I'd rather enjoy the Norweigen landscape through a train window than amputate my legs and ride in a boeing 737.
Norway's pretty fucking great all round, in fact, I've never seen so many waterfalls in my life!
It's no big deal - we all kinew this was coming. You can't stay fastest for long, and I was under the impression that the new "Extreme" P4 was faster anyway. Needless to say, the performance of the G5 will improve after the next OS update, and more so when developers (including Apple) start to leverage the potential of its 64 bit addressing, different Altivec design and massive FPU performance. If there's less than 10% performance between the fastet Pentium, Athlon and G5 designs, then they're all FAR MORE dependant on application optimisation anyway!
I fell for that Mac-modding no warranty troll as well...

It's strange just how many Air Force bases continue to operate near populated areas, isn't it?
I've attended many airshows in my time, and Concorde doesn't even begin to compare to the noise level of many military jets.
I went to Norway recently for 10 days. Charged the day before I went, and the day after I got back. Why carry a charger if you don't have to?
YOUR money? And who are YOU, the Tecumseh?

Are you for real?
It's 2003, not 1803.
As soon as an American company builds one, the US will drop all objections to supersonic overflight.
Then we'll have supersonic travel again.
We could have had it first time around, but the Americans knifed the baby.
MOST PalmOS devices have 320x320 screens or larger. 160x160 displays are almost gone now, I think there's only one model left with that size.
If you want cellphone anonymity, just buy secondhand phones and several 'pay as you go' SIMs. Easy.
My THREE cellphone service providers do not have my home or business addresses, though they could triangulate me if they REALLY wanted to.
Buy many phones, register none.
"that still managed to deliver 8-10 hours of standby time."
Wow. My Nokia 8910 gives me nearly 2 WEEKS of standby. My first 'phone (a Sony CMH-333) gave me about 24 hours, if I remember rightly.
I get about 4 days out of my Palm Tungsten T2, which suffices.
evar?
wow!
Grilling is done by radiant heat, McDonalds therefore does not grill their burgers. They are fried on those electric plates.
"because the supercomputers of today are desktop computer parts tomorrow"
Shouldn't that be:- "the desktop computers of today are the supercomputer nodes of tomorrow"?
I've seen this guy's silly troll before, it's a cut n paste job - don't even trouble yourself with it.

Yeah, but why?

You mean like "Reagan" or "Bush"?
You don't have any friends, do you?
it WAS - the PPC 970 doesn't support biendian operation (hence no Virtual PC for the G5).
Lacking in transparency, hugely affected by physical contact noise and extremely inefficient. Cheaper 'conventional' Sony Fontopia are much better.
They are terrible headphones!
My old Sony 805 Discman with D77 'phones sound a hell of a lot better than an iPod with EX70s.
Avoid the EX70, it's a shitty design, and incredibly uncomfortable too.
