    Illinois - 1960. Hizonner Mayor Daley (D - Chicago) delivered the state to Kennedy in about as close of a race as Florida 2000.

    Take the claims of voter fraud at face value to flip Illinois... and Kennedy still wins. Not *that* close I guess.

    Once, of course, you factor in the mind-boggling number of shennanigans that occured. The exit polls proved to only be an accurate measure of the number people who *thought* they voted for Gore.

    This year, though, there are no exit polls so there'll be no independent confirmation of what's going on.

    A friend of mine was working as a call center rep for them and ran into a similar problem. She was fired for having too long an average call time, though she wasn't over by very much and no one warned her that she was taking too long. Keep in mind, this was just 3-4 weeks after she finished four weeks of (paid) training. Great ROI there guys.

    She found out later that a couple days after she was fired, a CS VP came down to give her an award for getting perfect scores in all her customer feedback.

    do there seem to be more Bush campaign commercials about Kerry than Bush campaign commercials about Bush?

    Only a couple of Kerry's commercials attack Bush whereas more than half of Bush's commercials feature Kerry in some fashion.

    You see this reflected in the Bush campaign websites. Too busy attacking Kerry and not saying anything about what they've "accomplished" the past four years whereas Kerry's website is actually about Kerry.

    It's strange to see Bush running a challenger's campaign... but they seem to be making the Onion's satire redundant.

    A few right-wing cranks in the Church hierarchy are trying to score some political points over abortion. Notice how they don't say anything about pro-choice Republican politicians. Notice how they don't say anything about pro-death penalty Republican politicians.

    And unless the Pope has come down on high and said Kerry needs to "buzz off:, the Church itself hasn't said anything.

    Why was it bad to talk about candidates' experiences (or lack thereof) serving in the military in 1992 and 1996, and somewhat taboo in 2000, but suddenly it's the only thing that anyone talks about? This is ridiculous.

    Because Democrats didn't try to smear Bush Sr and Dole's military records and because Clinton didn't avoid serving in a war he supported. (Hint: that means his view was *consistant*.)

    If he PERSONALLY thinks Abortion is Murder, then he SHOULD be against it professionally. Taking a moral stand is a GOOD thing, don't you think?

    I think it's the difference between being a vegan in your personal life and opposing measures to mandate veganism.

    Whereas, your stance of being a meat-eater while attempting to force others to become vegans is not dissimilar to efforts by closeted Republicans to oppose gay marriage.

    Actually, he can't. He's a public figure; pretty much impossible to claim libel or slander. It's the same reason the right-wing was free to sell videos claiming that Bill Clinton was masterminding the murders of dozens of people.

    Their claims are at odds with official Naval records, eye-witness accounts of those actually present and what they themselves have claimed in the past.

    From the doctor who claims he treated John Kerry(even though medical records state otherwise) to Thurlow who received a Bronze Star undir fire for the exact same incident(and doesn't seem to be in any rush to return his 'fraudulent' medal) to the admiral who defended Kerry just 8 years ago, there hasn't been a single claim of SBL that's held up under scrutiny.

    The fact is that he's not. He is against stem cell harvesting from aborted fetuses.

    He's against stem cell harvesting from left over embryos from in-vitro fertilization, which he supports wholeheartedly.

    Understandably, Republicans are frothing themselves into spinland because it's a very unpopular stance, one that they themselves might disagree with. But since they can't ever criticize Bush, they have to do all sorts of mental gymnastics to convince themselves that he's not actually doing anything stupid.
