Instead of using the same obvious FUD tactics that you claim to abhor, show me a better alternative and I'll use it. Give me something that works as well and I will use it (and yes, I've used every browser available to man within the last month for the development of a new site I've been working on). Until then, shut up.
I think the key is to get people to *create* their documents in an alternative office suite.
But -- aside from political reasons, why would anyone do that? You guys tend to forget that most people go with the best software regardless of who produces it. MS Office is currently the best productivity suite and will continue to be most widely used until something emerges that works -- say it with me -- better.

I have no idea where the original went, but it's not the first time a comment has gone missing lately. Long story short: it looks like Andover knew they were going to be acquired by VA when/. was purchased. Rob turned down offers from VA and Andover was used to get/. under the VA umbrella one way or another....there was a link in the original comment (not mine) that appears to support the whole thing (I thought it was Newstrolls, but I can't find anything relevant there, so who knows). If any of this is true, it's a serious bitch move by VA.
