Server load could be at the root of XML's problems

I know that as a student maintaining a website I am in the minority of XML users, but I the main thing that stops me from moving my site (small-scale though it may be) over to using more XML is sheer server load. The fact of the matter is that we still don't have true low-bandwidth database solutions, and until this changes, I doubt that much will be done with technologies like XML (at least on smaller, non-corporate sites) no matter how much potential they have.
I agree completely... It's a total waste of valuable resources that are better spent improving the network. Speaking as a future public university student, I hope that more schools catch on to this idea. We Mac & Linux users shouldn't be punished for someone's inability to get an automated patch...
While I agree that this is an inaccurate way to measure the RIAA's losses, I doubt seriously that there really is an accurate way. P2P is a (relatively) new technology, and very little market research has been done on it. The simplicity of downloading a song for free does mean that people will download more than they would otherwise buy, but I think that more sales research should be done (by independent groups) before we decide just how we are going to measure the music industry's losses.
It's not likely that they would purchase G5's from Apple; they don't deal in the OEM chip market, and their G5 towers are too bloated (expensive vid cards, etc.) for Supercomputer applications. IBM is the place to get the chips and applicable hardware, and the cluster itself will surely be linux based.
Everyone should support these indy gaming comics. Sure, there's Penny Arcade and Little Gamers, But there's something nostalgic both about holding the comic in your hands, and the Pencil-and-paper RPGs referenced.
I conceed that not enough has been done, but I have a feeling that this is only the beginning.
There may be too many spammers out there to beat, maim, or boil, but I think that this is still the start of something good.
anything but good coming from this. If the gaming companies and groups had more explorative confrences/etc such as this one, the entire industry would be revolutionized.
It's really horrible that OUR rights need to be stripped from us in order to protect the nation as a whole. I mean, how many of us are building bombs, and even if you are, do you really plan on blowing something important up?:) It's horrible.
I'm not saying that I don't understand why this is happening, but the government doesn't open up our snail mail! Our rights to private conversation need to be protected online as well as they are in the real world.
Goat out.
I, for one, have put my Palm III/e through hell and back. I'm a high school student, and my Palm has been dropped, scratched (yes, the screen), beaten, bruised, and has even been on a trip through the washing machine along with my pager. Guess which one survived?
I'm just saying that from my experience, Palm makes some hearty PDAs.

Bigdog is a hero of the people. I think that cell phones are moving in the wrong direction, they should be made of wood.

But when will the missle and torpedo options be available?

Comic Sans! Be quiet you fool, That font is Gates' baby! Are you trying to get us all killed? Why don't you attack Zaph Dingbats instead?
The lengths some people will go for a half-assed proxy...

Why do DOS attacks still work? I find it really bizarre that people fail to make crucial security patches that could easily prevent these problems.

Finally, justice served... I've been waiting a long time to see this hapen.
