I recommend it to people who don't want to be crowded in UO or would prefer a "darker" world than EQ.
It is a timesink, all these games are.. hell, computers are.. it is just the way things work..
anyway the site is at http://lineagethebloodpledge.com easy to start, eases you into the game nicely (which is something none of the others do) and people are good..
Well, with the release of the Apple iTunes and them selling 1M songs proving that the model works suddenly MS is gonna want to come in and try to dominate the market and shove Apple over..
umm.. actually if you want your box to not crawl (ever) you might be better off with something like evilwm ( http://lucifer.intercosmos.net/images/screensho t_2 003-05-08_16%3A25%3A34.png ) for a screenshot.. Takes a bit to get used to, but sits in memory at around 40k total and is easily hackable..
in addition there is also this tasteless group of guys who keep making posts about greased-up yoda dolls which has also forced me to start browsing at +2..
seems that mod points are being handed out with less frequency than they were before.
I think they should start handing them out for people with "excellent karma" and then track if the metamods agree with the point distribution..
our one java server at present that is running jacarta and tomcat is a huge resource hog and is slow on top of that, we are actually porting java code to PHP left and right because of issues with it being slow.
saying that it is actually a much faster box than the php boxes we have, and that those php boxes can outperform the java ones (at every turn, the benchmarks are ridiculous) we are not considering java at all.
we use PHP here for huge web applications.. we have six servers pumping out one website and it connects to a redundant database server.
The same system in java probably would not work, and if so would take up so many resources as to be no efficient.
If you are interested in more examples of some somewhat crazy things you can do in PHP check here to see examples of using it on the commandline for ncurses (which I wrote the primary tutorials on zend.com for) and for handling sysv shared memory.
"It is probably Hayao's most "adult" work. It explores themes such as science without a conscience, the absurdity of war, and the relationships we have with our planet."
I think that perhaps "Princess Mononoke" covers this same ground...
I still kind of have issues with ebooks.. I mean, reading is pretty much a tactile thing for me.. I.e. I like the smell of books, I like turning pages..
In other words, it is nice to get away from the computer sometimes and just read..
Lineage is actually a pretty good game.

It is just what they always do..

with the MS "root" of the day patches I wonder how many man hours per day people in the USA spend "rebooting"?
Sitting here with some servers that have 280+ day uptimes..
why didn't they list their site as dead as soon at it is listed on slashdot..
someone want to post the article here?

we are a large domain name registrar (not the largest, but close).

dude.. I just blew coffee all over my monitor reading that..

I think that perhaps "Princess Mononoke" covers this same ground...
Miyazaki is the guy who did the following very well known movies:
Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke
Kiki's Delivery Service
My Neighbor Totoro
yes.. and shredding does not have the same effect either..
`shred ~/ebooks/*`
I would not mind a little foldable pad that could display them, that would be cool.
God, printing 10k ebooks?
it is time to read up eh?
I still kind of have issues with ebooks.. I mean, reading is pretty much a tactile thing for me.. I.e. I like the smell of books, I like turning pages..

Though, I congratulate their efforts, it is cool
true..
if you can run linux on a zilog, well, you can run it on anything.
