I installed SQL Server 2005 Enterprise downloaded from the MSDN last week.
The Management Studio Interface is pretty good, although not as responsive as I would like on a 2.8 GHz P4. Thankfully stored procedures can be edited in a non-modal window (in tabs).
SQL server also comes with MSXML 6 and SQLXML4. The upgrade analysis tool is very neat.
Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional is much more CPU intensive than the Management Studio. They do look rather similar.
Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 2005 has an updated inteface, however many screens still look the same.
If you are using Windows - run netstat at the command line. There are also some switches that can show more detailed information, some of them are undocumented I believe. Use Google if you need to find them.
Using Ethereal is also an option - it can provide a lot more information but is more involved to use and interpret the results.
Considering that many western countries have a population split 51% female and 49% male - I'm not surprised.
This is due to the shorter life expectancy for males.
Why then, do females get to retire 5 years sooner than men, yet they live on average 5-6 years longer? Seems like they get 10 years more retirement than we do. I should start a Meninist movement or something.
apt-get is a package download/install tool that resolves dependencies. apt-get is not better than RPM... they can't really be compared because they serve very different purposes.
As a Fedora user, I use apt-get, yum, yumex, up2date and synaptic (mainly the last two). I haven't had "RPM hell" since about RedHat 7-8.
If you get the opportunity - give a modern RH based distro a go. Good steps have been made.
Terrorism: Ah, the catch all for someone who's doing something we don't like.
Like bombing the Underground?
Illegal narcotics: Likewise, the CIA and M16 are great at stopping illegal narcotics, they're so good that the street price has been dropping steadily.
Judging by the lack of factual objectivity in your post, and your knowledge on the street prices of narcotics, I think now would be a good time for you to check-in to a rehab facility?

Close in numbers, but not close in the severity, or the number of unpatched exploits.
If MSIE had approximately 97% usage at it's peak, and FireFox is now close to 8%, how could most of FireFox's market share come from Mozilla browsers and Opera? 97% + 8% != 100%
2.8 GHz P4 with 736 MB RAM on a dual head Win2003 Std Server.
VS 2005 Pro is very slow on this setup. It is much slower than 2003.
Using Express is not an option for our business.
Interesting, but in every company I have worked at; the language used depends upon the current hosting environment used by the client.
.NET 2.0 is sure to kill me (or fry my chip due to the CPU requirements or their IDEs) so I guess it doesn't matter anyway.
I'm all for "increased developer productivity", however in the work place I have yet to even use Ruby.
Oh well,

Thanks in advance.

80 MB size is mammoth? MS Office is much larger (1-2 CDs) - OO.org is the winner here.
I can understand about the speed issue though. Wasn't it written in Java at some point?
NeoOffice runs fairly quickly on my G4.
That would be a fun VBScript to write and email to everyone I know who buys Vista as soon as it comes out! :-)
Duke Nukem Forever will run on Windows Vista - when the new DB filesystem becomes available.
GNU Linux "is not Unix". Recursive acronyms are hard for BSD users to understand.
Go and create symlinks to your shortcuts, and shortcuts to your symlinks - until you can't tell the difference without ls.
I know he works in IT, but surely a man needs more than two by his age?

I got a BigDisk - I dont know about you guys.
I love to upload DNA strands using it.
Weird name, useful utility.
That would be New Zealand...
I hope my shipment of inflatable Love Dolls makes it through customs, otherwise it's going to be a lonely new year.

If the order of purchases was to be reversed, I would purchase a Firewire/USB2 external hard drive, which would be bootable on the Mini.

Now back to my latest Marvel comic purchase before my cheese coagulates on my nachos.
Seems like the GP still has the 90's mental addiction to having the latest/greatest software...

When it is out of beta, it will still crash. It will still be the main target of ActiveX(TM) malware, spyware, etc.
It annoys me how there is no reload button in IE 7 beta 1. Also the tabbed browsing interface is damn ugly IMHO.
To each his own though. People are free to use whatever they like - choice is good.

This sounds misleading - I bet they haven't tested the legibility when a nuke explodes 5km away.
So when can I buy HD DVD pr0n?
