Doesn't the fact that his website was advocating the use violence in overthrowing the government pretty much satisfy the intent question? As in "Overthrow the government by violent means! And here's how to make bombs."

When you're talking about putting decent stereo equipment into a computer though, if you want to add a good sound system its going to add $100 to the price, and even then its not going to satisfy a lot of people. As far as the price goes, the high end iMac has to be one of the easiest to use and cheapest DVD creation platforms around.

Apart from it not being too heavy, they need that much weight in the bottom to keep the machine nice and stable so that it doesn't go flying if the screen is knocked.

Because building decent speakers into a small design is pretty impossible. It comes with one speaker built into the housing, and the middle and high end models come with some reasonable sounding separate Harmon Kardon speakers. The fact is that most people will be quite happy with the sound that comes as standard, and the people that aren't happy with it are likely to have a decent stereo system to plug the iMac into anyway. You can't satisfy the budget conscious and the audiophile at once, so you might as well deal with the budget conscious and let those who want the best sound set up their own stuff, which they'll no doubt be much happier with.

I just wonder whether these guys were hoping or expecting that Apple wouldn't be selling the original iMac design by this point in time. While there are some differences the styling is close enough that I can't see why this one would get away with it considering the other similarly styled machines that were stopped in the past. When it comes down to it, with the amount of they spend on their designs, I suppose Apple feel justified in stopping people hitching a ride on their hard work.

Just be glad you don't live in the UK. Our fantastically caring government managed to sneak the R.I.P. Act onto the statute books last year, which basically gives security agencies (Police, MI5, MI6 etc.) the power to force you to hand over any encryption keys for anything on your computer, be that for email or anything else. Don't want to play? Well take two years in jail then. Marvellous.

Whether it was a case of "We want to work with you" or "OK so we lost in court but if we give you this big bag of cash will you stop selling VGS?" only Connectix and Sony really know.
