Dantz Retrospect 6.0 doesn't work. EMC Dantz' website says to not use until the update comes out the first week of May. I learned that after the fact.
Norton Anti-Virus 9.0 doesn't work. I would imagine Symantec will have a fix out soon.
VPC 7.0.1 works, although there is an error message about the virtual switch upon startup. I run Quicken for Windows from VPC and had no trouble getting out to the network from the VM.
Not on my system. I did an upgrade from Panther (since I've only had the PowerBook a couple of months). Safari works great. I'm using it right now to enter this post.
I've been using Entourage for POP, since switching. I haven't run into any issues. I've got the latest updates for 2004 installed btw. What kind of bugs does Entourage have, or is this only when you are trying to get mail from Exchange?
Why should they? If you want it that bad, switch. I switched a couple of months ago, and grow to love my PowerBook more and more each day. I wish I could replace my work Dell D800 with a PowerBook.
Hmmm... do you have kids? From your comments I doubt it. Let me tell you, as the father of 5 yr old twins it is a scary world out there. Much different than when I grew up. There are a bunch of bad people out there that would love to do my kids harm, both online and in the physcial world. It is my responsibility to protect them, but also temper that so as not to be over protective. I appreciate all the help vendors can give, so I can decide what to do. Not the government, not you, but me and my wife.
On a lighter note... my Tiger shipment is on the FedEx truck for delivery today. Woohoo!
Speaking of Quicken... I wish Intuit would bring the Mac version to parity with the Windows version. I switched to a PowerBook a couple of months ago (yes, Tiger will be arriving on my doorstep Friday), and have to run Quicken for Windows inside VPC because the features I use the most (savings goals, ESPP and 401(k) account types) are not present in the Mac version. If they don't do something this year, I will migrate from Quicken at the end of the year.
Steve Jobs is not a public figure to you or me (unless we are AAPL shareholders). He is not a politician, he is not running for office. His private life is his business. The only time his private life becomes anybody's business is when it would affect his fiduciary duty to his shareholders. His shareholders are NOT the majority of the potential set of buyers of this unauthorized book.
I doubt this action will have any effect on the bottom line for Apple.
Why bother with Mac? I won't use it on Tiger (which will be arriving on my doorstep next Friday), because I will have Spotlight integrated fully into the OS. Waste of money if you ask me.
And if you know why things should be set up a certain way, you can make informed business decisions on possibly why you wouldn't want a certain thing secure (that "ought" to be). You could then document that yes it should be, but here is why we aren't doing it.
Specifically in this context I would say they are one in the same. I agree it probably gets the point across better to say 'query.' But in a database context, I would say a view would be more analagous.
I suggest you go back and read the parent article to this one. Your answer is their (authenticate from you email client). Quit slamming on Verizon on this issue, it's on your end not theirs.
So, my PB is about a month old. In the Windows world I have always done fresh installs. How so in the MacOS X world? Should I upgrade or do a fresh install? What are the pros/cons to each method?
Sorry to hear this. I've had my loaded 15" PB for two weeks now (1.67GHz w/ 128MB video, 100GB HD and 2GB RAM). No problems here. I love it! My question is: will I have to fork out for Tiger, or will I get an upgrade credit of some sort.
The iMac is not an upgradeable machine. If you want upgradeable, get a PowerMac.
Did you not notice the poster said "about a year." Eight months is about a year.
Are you a Switchfoot fan? Awesome group!
I preordered and received it yesterday... been using it since yesterday afternoon.

Touche. I'm sorry that I missed your disclaimer, although I still hold to my comments. Life changes when you become a parent.
I got my Gen3 iPod last June. I haven't had one problem with it.
I got my PowerBook 15" 1.67 GHz fully maxed out a couple of months ago. I haven't had a problem with it (although it's only been a couple of months).
I don't see the quality issues you're talking about.

We don't steal, we relocate.

I'm curious why you went "back to Windows" instead of going to Apple with MacOS X?

Actually it is more analogous to a view than a SQL query.

This is why I got a PowerBook. Enough said.
Since I'll be new to this, after the install do you get the option of "un-archiving" to restore your apps and preferences?

I got my iPod last June. I got my PB 15" fully loaded about 3 weeks ago. Too bad I still have to use a Dell for work.
