  1. I want this on Potato Bazookas · · Score: 1
We used to make potato guns in high school for the "pep rallys" but sheesh!! This looks like fun.

Being close to Cleveland, I have to wonder if you can modify this for beer bottles.

  2. Re:Bikes on the street on Segway Banned In San Francisco · · Score: 1
I don't know the statistics but I know my head. I have been slammed in the back of the head or in the handlebars by more cars than I can shake a stick at. In my city now, there is no way you can possibly ride a bike in the city streets without getting hit. The upside to that is that we are a rust belt community so nobody walks or rides a bike so the sidewalks are always clear.

The biggest problem is that there is nothing useful within 1-3 miles of residential parts of the city (other than Fast food restaurants and Pharmacies).

Back on topic though, I don't understand why people would want the Segways on the sidewalks to begin with. I walk an average pace of 6 miles an hour. I ride my bike an average pace of 24 miles per hour. I drive an average pace of 40 miles an hour. Why the hell am I going to spend several thousand dollars on something that only goes 15 miles an hour and has to be recharged (if I remember correctly) every 15 miles. I have to go farther than that to work every day. I go two thirds that getting to the nearest park. Granted, the nearest grocery store is only 2 miles from home but, come on. Let's be realistic. It is not like I am in a really small town either. Toledo Ohio is bigger than Ann Arbor Mi. and almost as big as Columbus. This thing would simply be useless.

Sheesh, you'd think the 'nerds' would pay attention to the details. But then, you are not really nerds. Are you?

I sure wish I could mod this up. I hadn't thought of this perspective. I was more on the side of not publishing the bug but, this arguement illustrates good points that I should have been thinking of.

He claims to be truthful, which for the most part he is. If he is not, he admits it freely, just like when he is wrong.
Granted, he is an unlistenable, egotistical, smug, self riteous bastard; he is also funny as hell sometimes.
I admit that I am not a liberal by any stretch of the imagination but, most conservatives know better than to follow Rush blindly. Especially in the last 4 years when he has been becoming more and more a farce of himself.
Good conservatism is coming from Mike Reaganand Sean Hannity more than Rush any more but, the simple minded liberal keeps promoting Rush better than any conservative ever could.

Bush was appointed yes, and then the vote counts in Florida proved in his favor.
One way or the other, what does this matter to this case. I don't think Al Gore would have had the guts to stand up to M$ on his first term of office either.
It was convenient that Clinton proceeded on this case in his second term wasn't it. Politicians are politicians. No president is going to mess with cash flow until the second term.

  10. Who is Janis Ian on Music and the Internet Reprise · · Score: 2, Insightful

Honest question, not meant to be rude

Why don't they allow musicians to decide this issue by noting in their contract whether they want free downloads or free Internet Radio airplay.
When I had my option to sign a recording contract (yes, I was more of a nobody than I am now but...) there was a clause dictating (not asking mind you) how many of MY CDs would be pressed for free give away to radio stations. These stations would Never play our stuff. Not because it was not Radio Freindly, but rather because it was not known. Yeah, we could get on local shows but never anything that was new exposure.
You want to guess who paid for those copies?
The recording industry is just trying to squeeze those last few cents out of their cattle (artists) not looking out for their best intrest.
