The last I heard the new version won't work with old hardware. Nice. Spent $20k on a system three years ago, and now it's $20k of JUNK if I want to use the new features of the new software. Dear Avid: Fuck. You.

Not true. We're using an 888/24 interface with ProTools 10.2 in our studio and it works fine. Avid simply doesn't help you with the hardware if you're having trouble with it which is a little disheartening, but there are a large number of Pro Tools users on a number of forums who will help. Just because they say they don't support a piece of hardware it doesn't mean that it doesn't work. Plus, since Pro Tools 9, you can finally use practically any non-Digidesign/non-Avid audio interface; even your internal soundcard.

This post gave me a stomach ache at how similar my problems have been when playing with a Linux distro. Just add the horrible problems when using the proprietary ATI/AMD or the openati vid drivers. I've never had a distro work well. I'd usually troubleshoot until I give up, live with it for a while, then reinstall Windows when I need something to work.

Wicked echo on the voiceover there, can you record that stuff in front of a curtain, or hang cloth over the walls or something. Its the little things.

But yeah this looks like a lot of fun.

I work in audio post-production so I always try to tell myself that most people don't have the know-how when it comes to recording, editing and mixing audio. Because if I didn't, I would be screaming at 95% of all the videos I watch on the internet.

    Common voice over problems are:
    1. Recording near the blaring computer fans.
    2. Popping the mic on lips plosives (Ps and Bs)
    3. Being too far from the mic (like in this case)
    4. Clipping the recording.
    5. Using an incredibly crappy webcam mic.

The only study referenced in this piece is 'Gold, L.S., et al. (1992) _Science_ Vol. 258, pp. 261-265' which is 20 years ago. Though I'm sceptical of the organic movement and its claims, I'd like to have more data on this piece's premise as there are assumptions made. For example:

'For obvious reasons, organic farmers have done little, if anything, to dispel the myth that "organic = chemical/pesticide-free". They would only stand to lose business by making such a disclosure.'

Are all organic farmers cut from the same cloth with the same methods? What about farmers who try to grow crops without any pesticides at all?

Hell yeah! I found the workprint to be far more entertaining than the finished film as well. I watched it at least 3 times and laughed my ass off every single time. Remember the plane crash? "EXPLOSION!!!" The part when Wolverine gets hit by the Big Rig was great, too.

I wish more studios would include workprints and stuff like that on their legitimate DVD/BD releases. The process of making a movie is often times far more fascinating to me than the movie itself.

If you get Sin City - Extended Cut, you get to watch the whole film with green screen, though it's sped up to be 14 minutes or something.
