Sorry, but its clear to me that you don't really know much about Zen.

Which books did you read? There is a very large conceptual/language barrier that causes many westerners to misinterpret or get confused over what Zen is about.

We can't expect everyone to know about all other concepts in the world, but surely we should know about such limitations and not spread FUD about something we aren't familiar with?

Keep in mind he may not be talking the proprietary nature of Adobe Flash because he thinks that's inherently a bad thing, something that we should therefore avoid, but simply because he thinks Adobe is telling us BS and he's trying to refute a point. He's also saying that if freedom is important to you (not necessarily himself), then HTML5 is a better option anyway.

My problem is with how the FSF is implying that Jobs is a hypocrite. It seems that they're more interested in making his thoughts into something that they're not than they are about promoting free software. I like the idea of free software, but the FSF is coming across as your typical zealot, trying to twist people's words to better suit their own agenda. Maybe it's not intentional and they're simply incapable of comprehending that another person's values may be just as valid as their own, even if they conflict. Either way, I'm disappointed that Ars ran with this article rather than going with something less bias.

Apple doesn't really seem to care about a lot of it's "core" customers anymore. Look how long it took to update the macbook pros and they are selling mac pros that came out 14 months ago for the same price that they sold them for when they came out.

Apple is a bit slow updating its line of laptops and this counts as alienating its core customers? If that was people who must have the latest and greatest computer, you might have a point.

Furthermore they are letting a lot of the pro apps waste away

How do you come to that conclusion? I just got Aperture 3 and think it was a great upgrade, if a bit late. From what I've heard, the others are doing pretty well, too.

doesn't even have support for shit like TRIM despite the fact that 3/7 of the computers Apple ships have options for SSD cards(macbook air(another neglected machine), macbook pro, and xserve).

I'm sure once SSDs come down to a more reasonable price and is included into more of their range, Apple will have better support for it. It's not the kind of thing you want to rush.

They also don't offer SSD options for the iMacs

The iMac is Apple's middle-range desktop. It also has 3.5" HDD. There's probably much less demand for SSD for iMacs at the moment. I'm sure they'll offer an option once the price comes down, the capacity goes up, and the OS offers better support. And as you have said, if you really need SSD for your iMac, it is possible to do it yourself.

More BS. I've been using my iPhone to make short notes and tasks. Those are both creative. There may be more creative software available on a desktop computer, but that doesn't make the iPad some completely passive consumer device. That depends upon the user. Even if it was true, why is that such a bad thing? Many people have both a TV and a computer.

Or is that what you get if you turn the screen down as low as possible and do nothing but type with one app open? How many apps are there that would work on that device?

I don't see how the Courier is more natural. Books suck compared to a single pane; ever noticed the way many people fold their magazines while reading them? The only reason books have two panes is because of the way they're made. People are used to them, but that doesn't mean they're more ergonomic or practical. The Courier simulates a quirk that is irrelevant on a digital screen. It looks cool, but I think the whole concept is just silly.

Are you really implying that had Apple rented their hardware, that they would have made the platform more open?

You are free to put whatever you want on your Apple products. You just don't get to use Apple's services if you don't agree to their terms and conditions. You may question the value of the product without Apple's services, but that is another matter.
