Actually I find that having the ADV in the subject line just makes the spam that much easier to filter out.

Is this possible? With XP can multiple users run multiple programs at the same time in a usable manner? Sure you can start up office; start typing a letter, leave office running and log in as a different user without shutting down office, but can two users log in and run it at the same time without interfering with each other. When I run PC Anywhere on my win98 box; i can't connect more than once; the two users would interfere with each other. Does XP resolve this??? excuse my ignorance; but I haven't seen XP yet (nor do I intend to)

whoops - forgot something; shoulda used preview. A lot of these other floppy distributions people are mentioning here are for routers or firewalls; Toms is a great all around repair disk with plenty of goodies to get your system running again.

Interesting how this topic came up; just yesterday i was resizing the partition on my RedHat box (BEFORE looking for a boot floppy) and had to use my Tom's Root Boot disk. Unfortunatly; I got an error trying to run chroot...
    [end stupid anecdotal story]

Anyway; Tom's is great; (aside from the above-mentioned chroot problem) it does everything I ever needed in a boot floppy. awptic is right; those 160 utilities are handy! Seriously; give it a try!

  6. Re:Encryption? on Document Retention And E-mail · · Score: 1

Part of the point of deleting the emails rather than simply encrypting them (as I understand it) is if you are ever under a subpoena from a court to retrieve the documents. If they are there but encrypted, you could be held in contempt for not decrypting them; but if the company policy is to delete anything after (say) 90 days, you *can't* retrieve them. (On the other hand, Eric Damron pointed out elsewhere in these comments that there must be a policy for it or you could end up having to recover the data :-O)
    of course, IANAL

Just last week I was at a friend's trying to find the realplayer and got that JavaScript thing(once I finally found the download - they kept trying to redirect me to realone). If we're talking about the same thing it's some stupid download manager that really did a number on the system were using....it took me quite a bit of time to straighten things out.

Unfortunatly, Outlook Express (don't know about Outlook) doesn't allow any kind of filtering for IMAP or HTTP mail. I just found this out a week ago when I tried to set up filtering on my Hotmail account. In the rules menu; there is a little notice at the top that says as much. I really don't know if it's a technical thing or a policy decision... -bennetch

The FCC isn't saying anything about shielding, rather that you have to accept the fact that you have no legal recourse if your device recieves interference. Part 15 of the FCC regulations, which many electronic devices in the US have to comply with; state two things: Your device cannot cause interference. It is not allowed. If you do; they'll come and shut it down, because of the legal issue of causing interference. The second segment of Part 15 is that you have to accept any interference you recieve. It's a matter of legal rights and the like, not of engineering. There are all sorts of things that can interfere at those frequencies, and you can't really do anything about it.

Yes, hams are in operation. See the arrl site for several articles related to this (like this and this). I live about 2 hours south of NYC in eastern Pa, and several of the area repeaters had RACES/ARES nets going for all of Tuesday and part of Wednesday. We didn't have much need for them, thank goodness, but they were active anyway. The hams of NYC and the surrounding area are pulling together to do an awesome job of helping. 73, KB3GQZ
