Symantec has been bad since before written history began. You can read bad reviews of it in Aristotle :-D

  2. Re: Are they stocking water tanks or tanks with gu on Symantec Stock Tanks After Announcing An Internal Probe (cnet.com) · · Score: 1

To tank is a perfectly fine verb in English. I'm not a native speaker, but I've seen that verb countless times. I only realised the headline could be interpreted as 'stocking military tanks' after reading these comments. Maybe it's because Slashdot is anyhow mostly about finance/law/copyright/Apple?

  3. Huh? And we should care, because.... on Klout's Score Drops to Zero as It Announces Plans to Close Down (gizmodo.com) · · Score: 0

Never heard of it. And if they're going to base it on twitter, even better, as I'm not on twitter :-D

Symantec is still around? I remember the days in which if you wanted to fix a computer, the first thing was 'uninstall Norton antivirus' ðY

  5. California should just declare independence. What's the point of being is such a regressive country?

  6. Brainwashing on Growing Petition Requests Apple Recall MacBook Pro With 'Defective Keyboard' (fortune.com) · · Score: -1, Flamebait

If anyone is stupid enough to buy anything from Apple, they deserve anything that goes wrong. It is amazing to think that there are still people who believe Apple makes quality products. Brainwashing at its best!

  7. everywhere? on YouTube Will Increase Security At All Offices Worldwide Following Shooting (theverge.com) · · Score: 1, Insightful

There is no need to do it everywhere in the world. These things only happen in backward places like the US. No other country thinks that the way to solve mass shootings is by increasing weapons use (arming school officials?). The US is increasingly looking like an African dictatorship. Forward thinking states like California should just declare independence. The US army is useless anyhow, they haven't won a war for decades.

  8. Slavery, nothing but slavery on New York Councilman Proposes Bill That Would Grant NYC Workers 'Right To Disconnect' (vice.com) · · Score: 3, Insightful

If I were ever required or expected to work after hours, then that's a "thanks, but no thanks" - There are plenty of jobs out there. You want me to work in the evening? You pay me for that. The more idiots who accept to be bullied, the more bullying there will be. I consider myself lucky not have been born in the US, where it seems slavery never ended, after all

  9. Eh? on Slack Now Available As a Snap For Linux (betanews.com) · · Score: 1

Ubiquitous? Maybe I've been living under a rock, but.. What's this Slack thingy? yet another messenger/whatsapp/telegram/skype/...? How many more messaging programs are we going to need? if this is just an IRC client and they found a bunch of idiots willing to pay for it that much, good job. The world is full of people just waiting to waste money on this kind of shit. Of course the usual thing will happen: to justify the price, they're going to pile more and more crap on this client, until even the idiots will tire of that bloatedness and switch to something else. (iTunes, anyone?)

  10. The problem here is that India is currently run by a fascist right wing dictatorial party and PM (BJP and Modi). No amount of worldwide outcry will make then turn away from repressive policies. Journalists writing about India ought to do it from out of India. To think that the majority of the people there worship their dictator Modi... then again, this always happens wherever people fall for populists promising the moon and delivering only money for the rich (see Trump in the US).
