"The past 2 Ask Slashdots have been about stupid ISP issues and really arent news."
It falls under 'stuff that matters'. If you're using Cox, or you're trying to get mail to somebody using Cox, then it's "news that matters". The nerd part is up to you.
"Win95 was irrelevant to the statistical blip you point out."
No, it wasn't.
"What really pushed PC sales was the fact that physical memory was finally cheap enough such that you could have a cheap consumer PC with enough memory to actually run a Microsoft OS comfortably."
Partly right. (It was a combination of a bunch of stuff.) What really did it was all the hype surrounding Win95. Win95 + Internet + Change in consumer pricing = huge boom.
" Apple bought the rights to the invention from Xerox, improved it dramatically, and launched a revolution. Microsoft copied Apple."... released Windows 95, launched a revolution...
Why must you use modern technology when you have the ancient pen and paper that obviously wasn't enough for a lot of people in the 20th century? Not only are they cheap, but they're y2k compliant and they even work when the power is out! You can't do sorting like you can with a spreadsheet, and formulas would have to be done by hand, but it's a tried and true technology!
*Here's hopin the mods have a sense of humor today.*
Nope, you first. Answer or don't expect another response. Twist it however you like, but in the end, you've still failed to pass your own test. Rather embarrasing.;)
"Now, since an old round was recently found, that means that NOTHING will EVER convince him that Saddam was not making NEW weapons."
Go tell him that. Funny that he hasn't brought that up, niether have I. Seems like something a fanatic would latch on to, no? Ouch.
Anyway, that has nothing to do with what I said about you coming across as a raving moron. What you say can and will be used against you, and all that jazz.
AnonV: "If you prove to me that he destroyed his cache of weapons from the 90's, then you will have given me enough reason to believe that he hasn't produced more."
khasim: "Let me save you some time in the future. Simply say that YOU WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY EVIDENCE THAT SADDAM WAS NOT BUILDING NUCLEAR WEAPONS TO ATTACK THE UNITED STATES."
Yikes. Do you realize what a raving moron you're coming across as?
"There are so many people in the USA who want him impeached / imprisioned for what he has done."
There are also a lot of people who don't.
"Most of the world hates him, its just a small % of americans who dont care, and a smaller % who like him that got him in office, but sure as hell wont keep him there."
I don't see how you can post this as 'fact'. It is, at best, a perception. Frankly, even if most of the world does hate him, is it for what he's done or for how he's portrayed in the media? I was in Australia when Clinton was 'impeached'. Watching how the story developed down there was quite enlightening. Lots of pertinent information that simply didn't make it. Heck, most of the people I talked to down thre thought that Monica was overweight when he slept with her. Heh.
"What's with people ripping off the first paragraph and submitting it as their text?"
If I were the type to submit stories, I'd do that too for the simple reason that I have read a NUMBER of articles where the submitter of the story really didn't get the point of the article at all. Is it really so bad? (I'll concede, though, that they should at least give credit to where they got the text...)
" Do they just assume we're not going to read the article, and are therefore being clever, or are they just lazy? "
Maybe they're covering their butts in light of the eventual Slashdotting?
I guess the real question here is, what's the BFD? Why are you complaining?
"First contact with the Klingons before the Federation even existed? Xindi? Come on!"
The Enterprise time line starts after the Enterprise-E visited Earth in First Contact. That little bit of info can be used to correct a lot of 'inconsistencies' in Enterprise, including when exactly they meet a lot of races such as the Klingons. Things are further complicated by the whole temporal cold war thing.
As for cloaking devices etc, well I dunno. Never watched much of ToS. I'm not defending that bit.
"Actually, I find I am more effective at certain kinds of tasks (especially programming) if I attack them in long sessions. The longer I keep going, the more into the right mind set I get and the more productive I am. This is especially true for involved tasks that need a lot of separate considerations to be maintained."
This is true in the programming world, but the opposite is basically true in the creative world. If I spent 15 hours making a 3D model, I'll have gotten maybe 10 hours worth of productivity out of it.
I don't mean this to negate your point, just sharing one of my own observations. Having done programming before, I agree with what you've said. I've accidently programmed until midnight before. Heh.
"A cup (at most two) a day is just about fine, IMHO. "
It was recently theorized (possibly proven... not sure, clarification welcome) that a cup or two of coffee helps keep your kidneys from developing stones. Something along the lines of it kickstarts your body. It was felt that overdoing it was bad, but a cup or two was just fine.
"It's digusting that game companies are using the sensationalism of sex to get people interested in their games."
Why not just let them and not worry about it?

"Wrong, they released Windows NT 3.1 in 1994 a full year before Win95."
Not wrong. You're thinking technologically, I'm thinking about the millions of more PCs that dramatically changed (and improved) the market.

"Finally, I can get my "male enhancement" emails again."
Crap! None of my hats fit anymore!!
Nope, you first. Answer or don't expect another response. Twist it however you like, but in the end, you've still failed to pass your own test. Rather embarrasing. ;)
" Why should I hold a discussion with a fanatic?"
Ha! You dodged it again! You're so predictable. Heh, ass. You're all out of chances now.
"At least I'm providing the facts and logic to support my statements. :)"
Not that I've seen. And no, it doesn't, and it's already been explained why.
"What was his challenge?"
Yeah, claiming ignorance won't get you out of that one.
"hahahahahahhahaha! "
mmm hmm. You're not really laughing. Heh.
"Actually, it does."
:) You're still avoiding his challenge, btw.
No, it doesn't.
Oh, I've been meaning to ask, when are you going to answer AnonV's challenge? You dodged that one like a flaming arrow.
"There, does that ring any bells? :D"
:)
It doesn't negate what I said, no.
Nice try.

"Which is true... one of my friends said this to me "Linux is nice, but Windows is free too. If I had to buy it I'd use Linux..."
Are you sure he means free as in "I can dl it" vs. free as in "it comes with every computer"? In the latter case, people are buying Windows.
"Why steal a Ford Pinto when Linus is giving away Lamborghinis for free? "
Because the Lamborghini box says "some assembly required"?

BTW, you mentioned in your site that you're finally getting hints, I imagine having it on Slashdot is helping.
"Couldn't they just jump over sharks on waterskis instead?"
Would it really be 'jumping the shark' if Shatner played Kirk's dad/granddad?
