I assume government agencies are required to wipe hard drives before releasing them to be junked, given to another dept, sold, etc. The info on those drives was full of very personal info (birth certificate images, etc).

When you have masses of tapes from dozens of multi-drive servers then you have the issue of trying to figure out what tape has what on it. You hope the person labeling them did it clearly and actually kept records of what the labels meant.

I wouldn't be surprised if the formatted drives were used for other purposes before they realized their mistake. I don't think the data recovery firms can restore info that has been overwritten, can they?

I'd assume that the cars you have now are much nicer than the car you probably had as a teen. Most teens can only afford cheap clunkers so you paid much less because the car was worth much less.

    Just a guess.

This is why I can never find a seat because of all these moochers. Don't they have homes or offices? I'd think the noise and foot traffic would be too distracting to concentrate.

I joke that the high prices at Starbucks are actually rent, not the price of coffee.

I can only speak for Mexico but I found that the "first-class" busses there for going between cities were great. From Mexico City to Puebla was one of the most comfortable rides I've had (movie screens, snacks, clean toilet, etc). Even the local bus to a small town wasn't bad, and that included a stereotypical chicken in a cage and two teens necking in the back.

The bodies of the connectors are also fragile. I broke a piece off one while just trying to push some cables aside. They need to make them stronger and shorter so they exert less leverage on the board's connector.

If they ban showing murder, rape, kidnapping, arson, genocide, infantcide, regicide, etc they'll never be able to show all of those great stories from the Bible like this excerpt from Numbers:

31:7 And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.

31:8 And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; [namely], Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.

31:9 And the children of Israel took [all] the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.

31:10 And they burnt all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire.

31:11 And they took all the spoil, and all the prey, [both] of men and of beasts.

31:17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.

31:18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

But you can't carry knives onto planes and your luggage would probably get scattered over many square miles, if not burned. Maybe you should pack a flint. That way all you need is a piece of metal, chunks of which should be all over the place along with chunks of fellow passengers.

"so I'm one of those patriotic freaks who sews a Canadian flag on my pack"

Good advice for Americans nowadays too. ;)

I figured this one out myself pretty early on. I realized that I was trying to take the exact same shot that was on a million inexpensive postcards and books. So I now take photos of other things and just buy a professional pic of the "money shot".
