Funny, I work in an IT department and the only people allowed to call Microsoft are the techs who administer our large scale server deployments that run windows.
1: You can make water from the soil on most of the moon. It only requires energy that you can produce from solar cells.
2: Yes. The moon is practically planet side compared to Mars. Getting back from the moon is a backup shuttle ride away, and you could keep a several month oxygen/food/water reserve incase things go FUBAR.
Though I might just hold out until they hit the $159 price point.

I am torn between two thoughts.
1: If any sizeable number of professional Jewish people were involved in anything hinting of terrorism, even if they had nothing to do with it, they would have figured it out and probably brought the story out by now. As for the number of Israeli citizens killed, I have no reference on the average number of Israeli citizens in the WTC, but considering the time of day a single foriegn citizen from a specific country doesn't seem that odd to me.
2: I will start by saying I am a strong supporter of the Zionist movement and have nothing but respect for the Jewish people. Our media does appear to be insanely afraid of appearing anti-semetic. This could keep a story such as that underground even if it were true.
(third note, who the heck is Haaretz, I've never heard of them before)
- Marriage is 'special'. Places that have allowed same sexed marriages have seen increased divorce and infidelity. Same sexed marriage takes away the 'specialness' of marriage.
Slow down there, where does that statistic come from?
I thought they did just fine representing the overcast darkness, I personally never saw it as anything more than a fairly dark cloud.
I think the problem is you expected the movies to be exactly as you interpreted the books, instead of an interpretation of the books that is acceptable to the masses.
Why would you trust gentoo linux? That is silly. That means you trust the entire gentoo development team which is just dumb.
I would only trust an operating system written by myself on hardware bult by myself from parts that are easily verified to be accurate (you can probably use simple pre-fabed chips, but things like pre-built p4's would be out of the question).
Be careful how you define trust, and make sure your expectations of trust are realistic.
And now I ask, does it really fucking matter?
I'd sell out too if it was only going to cost me ~5 years working on an awesome game on a pretty good console system.
I suggest you move out of your parents basement and get some perspective.
I'm pretty sure a secretary PC can be replaced now with little interruption.
The people I worry the most about are accounting and other professionals who rely on deeper parts of the os on a regular basis.

The rest of us don't have anything.
And "IBM IRC, do you have an existing ticket?"
I'm sorry, but you're an idiot.
Yeah MP3 is a shitty format, we should all know that by now.
Sadly most of the arguments you see on this site aren't technical in nature, they are bullshit in nature.
A lot of people read slashdot. It is sadly still one of the best ways to stay fresh with tech news.
;).
Most of us never read the comments unless we are bored out of our minds though
This is why I read the comments. Thank you!

Wow, because you know the same... anyone... worked at Apple 10 years ago...
Really, they did...
Wow, you don't have a dock? How quaint.
Try dragging it to the dock and moving on with your life. It's how I open all files anymore.
Except in Linux, where I'm stuck in file selectors.

That's a really really big difference if you ask me.
And me!

I interpreted any random violence from the hobbits as a replacement for the character development in the scouring of the shire.
It seemed fairly simple to me, and I bet thats what the commentary says.

Why are you using IE?
I would say within the decade Microsoft won't have the faultproof monopoly it has now.
OS X doesn't match this patent. The linux driver might be made to match this patent, but does not at the moment.
The patent cannot apply to application software, it relates to the way an operating system creates/reads files on a cdrom.
3. disable playback of iTMS purchased tracks in the current version of iTunes,
How exactly do you propose they do that? iTMS files are validated once and then a computer can play them ad infinitum.

You can actually put a home directory on a fat32 partition with knoppix.
Shelves are restocked by minimum wage pages while the library is open.
Do you seriously think economic sanctions are ever a good thing for anyone?
The level of idiocy here astounds me.
Just something to remember: a religious minority with guns is very scary.
