I spent afew days last month playing around with my home server which has been using freenx. I tried x2go and the beta version of No Machines server, as well as the old version. Nothing worked properly.
I was able to get freeNX working properly. Admittedly this appears to be an OpenSUSE 12.2 issue, but I was able to find references to help me for freeNX and nothing was forthcoming for the other two.
My home server runs OpenSuse and FreeNX. i access it across the internet all the time. They even have a java client that allows you to access it from PC's that don't have the client installed. No support for Android yet...
It's all about cost benefit. What is the cost to prevent outbound connections? It creates alot of work for me and something nasty is probably going to sneak out through a commonly allowed port.
What is the cost to prevent inbound connections, practically nil. If something wants in, I can make a judgement and allow it. I can limit the type of traffic or source of inbound traffic on a specific port. I don't have to trust random developer to use tight restrictions.
Allowing upnp on any sort of "secure" setting is irresponsible and dangerous.
You can get enterprise class equipment under $100, although around $100 to $150 is more reasonable. The home equipment just can't keep up with higher speed connections in my experience. Sometimes they slow things down without people realizing it, sometimes they lock up and need a reset (inconvenient if I'm trying to remote in from work). I use pfsense on Alix, but mikrotik and ubiquiti are very good choices for home and small business.
List of lacking features in consumer class routers (that many would find useful)
* multiple subnets *vlan * utilization graphs (have you hit your cap?) *VPN (sometimes they support an awful proprietary implementation) *readable logs
This is more of a problem with people who don't see the up front value in someone who knows networking. Anybody who knows networking should be able to differentiate between an unmanaged, web-managed, and managed switch. It frustrates the hell out of me to see people cheap out on the upfront cost and get upset when I have to charge them for all the time it takes to fix things. God forbid they listen to my recommendations.
Don't let the GOP give all our school funds back to their voters as tax rebates or dump it all into charter schools. Stand up for your community. If the school needs money, get them money. If the school needs new management, throw those bums out on their ears.
Get involved dumbass. Communities control their schools. The ones with problems are the ones where parents have ceded their responsibility so they can dive into the two income trap and/or get free daycare.
My understanding is that if the employers policies require 2 weeks notice and you give 2 weeks notice they have to pay you for those two weeks, whether they require you to work or not. I got a week of paid vacation at one place that didn't want to keep me around for the full two weeks.
The more data points I learn about my "friends", the more depressed I get. Wow, Tom is worried about chemtrails... Oh, there is Dave suggesting the president should be assasinated... Wow, some of Gary's friends are commenting on a white power poster..
I recently deleted my account, I'd rather not know how stupid everybody is.
When I went to school, I assumed a certain level of intelligence for everyone. I slowly realized I had to ratchet down my expectations. Then I started working, and those expectations got ratcheted down again. Then came the internet and I realized my expectations were still too high. Then I opened a facebook account and damn if most people weren't still managing to squirm under my assumed level of intelligence. I mean the bar is resting in the dirt and people are tunneling under it. People I once thought I could respect.
Sounds criminally negligent to me, or a problem where the patient sees many doctors who can't communicate records. Patients can't always communicate their own medical history properly. There are many who are hard of hearing, loopy from a sugar inbalance, or just plain dumb.
Some erecord systems will examine how things are coded and change the codes to make sure they are submitted for the most possible revenue. For example, there may be a code for casting an arm, the computer will notice that there are also codes for washing an arm, mixing a cast, immobilizing an arm and casting. It will add the other coded items that may have been missed before or may just be the same task broken into more steps.
I had some problems with it on openSUSE 12.2, maybe I will give it another try. Thanks.

I use FreeNX and get better results then the free version of NoMachine's server.

NoMachine or freenx handles this on Linux, however their new version is closed source.
I still use freenx to get a hosted web browser that ignores any limitations on local traffic.
Intellinet??

This problem has been solved with key based authentication. You should look into it.
OpenVPN is very simple if you know what your doing. Unfortunately most SMB's don't, and they don't realize the need to pay someone who does.
Welcome to the age of virtualization and emulation.
I thought the flags were too small to be seen and I read a recent article indicating they would be bleached white by the sun by now.
If we had actually gone to the moon and left flags there.
(jk, only a true maroon would think the moon landing was fake)
Yeah, because there aren't other suppliers waiting to get a deal with Apple.

All jobs are not about pay. Are you a good parent because you get paid more? Do you take care of your elderly relatives to get paid?
Teaching is about community and results. It requires a certain amount of money, but too much will damage the system.

I nominate you, let's take a vote. ;)

You at least filed a complaint?

...but apathy is, and I think that is a more likely reason these are not being hacked.
Sounds like their release cycle needs to slow down if people are deciding to wait for the new version after 4 months.
