I agree, however some differences necessitate change. Bribery is rampant in Mexico and not something I would like to see imported to the US. Apparently tax evasion is a national sport in Greece, again, something I would not like to see spread. Many of our societies virtues cause a noticeable positive effect, things like gender equality and freedom of religion or speech. These are the tings that need to spread.
You can't find any liberal studies because only the social conservatives are concerned with these straw man arguments. Unless we want to fight decades of war we will never impose our own values on the rest of the world. They will slowly seep out if we show people how good things can be.
Crapping on someone because the have some dumpster / RTO electronics and live in an air conditioned rental does not help anyone. In my city it is almost impossible to find a rental without AC.
Universities and Gov. jobs are supposed to set the standards of more vacation and balanced worklife. The Fox news crowd has convinced people that they are not free loaders instead of fore-runners. It saddens me when I hear people talk about Gov employees salary and benefits. Federal workers and contractors were the first to benefit from an 8 hour workday, it has since spread to the rest of the economy. Unfortunately there are many forces at work to smother this accomplishment.
If I promise you dollars, you cannot demand euros when the time comes to pay up.
If I owe a million dollars and I can't pay, I'm in trouble. If I owe you a trillion dollars and I can't pay, your in trouble. Guess which one is the US.
I think facebook and linkedin somehow scrape information if you have your email authenticated in a different browser tab. I don't know how to test this, but I am suspicious.
I'm not in software engineering, but I find that companies aren't willing to hire someone who is highly skilled unless they are already working in a highly skilled job. I have worked my way from Helpdesk up to Network Administration and I am trying to get into Network Design or find a Senior position. I know my stuff, but nobody is willing to pay for it. I can find $50k jobs all day (midwest), but I already have one of those and I actually get raises here.
Do those account for benefits? Much of the raises workers have received are on the back end, they immediately go to the pay the employer part of increased health insurance. It's kind of shocking to see how much a $50K a year actually costs an employer.
That's why I can't understand how people can be opposed to a single payer system. We are already paying the "taxes" to an insurance industry that gives us no representation.
I agree, chat lets me explain exactly what is wrong and get them to replace the defective part. If I'm on the phone they insist making me jump through all sorts of hoops, some of which allow them to disconnect and make me call back. This probably helps their numbers.
This is one of those chicken and egg problems, you have priced yourself low, driving others out of the business and now realize you are too low, along comes better service. Either from you, or someone else.
You forget that while the lawyers get paid, the company also gets indemnified against future lawsuits dealing with that issue. To an outsider it looks suspiciously like collusion.
I see you've been lucky enough to never experience economic hardship. Good for you, don't crap on everyone who has not been so lucky,

I was referencing this particular straw man argument. There are plenty on the left also.

37.5 hour days (non-exempt), about 35 days off counting PTO and holidays. Live in the US, midwest.

Worry less about the world, and more about your world (spouse, children, friends). You'll be happier and things will sort themselves out.
Translation,
"I got mine!"
That explains why we don't have any unobtainium on our planet.

Just because the music stopped while the Dems were holding the potato doesn't mean the are responsible for the mess.
It's amusing to me that all the comments talking up HFT's are always anonymous. I wish I had some mod points for the guy above me.
Your misplacing the multiplier. He's talking about volume of gold, not price of gold.

His other speculations sound suspect to me.
No USB on your servers? Most of mine don't have PS/2, but they still have plenty of USB.
This is true, it's amazing how long it seems to take a corporation to make a decision.
you must have a lot of brothers...

They did save the game before running the software.
