    You must have seen me drive by in my '96 Merecury Villager. The insurance company was nice enough to pay me the value of it a couple years ago when some old guy slid his car down the side of my car. I'm hoping to get another 3 years out of it at least...

    I think all fees and taxes should have to be stated up front. You should sign up for a cell phone contract for $69.99 and end up paying $87.32 each month. Banks should display every fee in their lobby and on the front page of their websites.

    Libertarians believe that everything can be worked out with backroom deals and lawsuits. In reality, a system described above would lead to the rich guy poisoning the little guys water, who would be forced to take it. There would be no upward mobility, because the wealthy would have no check on anything they do. Generations of children would live and die in poverty and ignorance.

    OR, someone would string the water poisoner up while the community cheered and society would degrade to rule by force (instead of wealth).
    Either way, I like regulations that (in theory) treat everyone the same.

    That's crap science. Animals generally conceal any sort of injury as much as possible. You would never know if they had a minor injury. They don't want to be thinned out of the herd or challenged by an usurper during a moment of weakness.

    Stretching makes me feel better. Going to the gym and immediately plunking down to stretch doesn't help so much, however, warming up for five or ten minutes and then stretching is great and really helps with my flexibility and general muscle soreness.

    Hmmm... When you are a well educated and prosperous individual who flees your country and has to start over, working hard gives you better results then someone who has been in poverty for generations and has a lower level of education and less access to higher learning, with a culturally ingrained distrust of authority.

    How curious....

    I too have an officer friend who is very ethical and I trust him. I know any officers I trust. I have heard officers tell stories where something obviously wrong is going on and they step in and say something without any records or arrests. This happens when the person doing it is another officer.

    With other people it is like a game. I will pull people over because the lights on their license plate is burned out. I found this gun, in the back seat of a car, it is legal and could be legally claimed by anyone in the car. However, since no one wants to claim it, I will check it in as "lost" property. People get nervous when cops question them. Many police are mostly honest, but they also mostly protect each other, in any situation.

    If they want a tax break they should have to promise to bring dozens of low paying, high turnover jobs into the state, just like every other company does (in Indiana).

    Maybe for a civil trial, but for criminal the gov needs to prove "beyond a reasonable doubt" that there is a second volume you are keeping hidden. Which way that would fall in a group of my peers is an open question.

    The funny thing is you think 15% is a good discount. When I get statements from my insurance everything is discount at least 15%, usually more like 30% to 50%, sometimes I see 90%. I always pay the same copay.

    I'm just pointing out that most of the outrage is not at the 1% who make 17% of the money, these are "working stiffs" in some sense. Most outrage is at the 1% who control 42% of the wealth and are not necessarily working day to day. 17% makes it sound good compared to 42%.
