I would posit that women are not in control of these things and they are taking what is given. Women are often not offered what is offered to men, and that is what people would like to change. Pay should be public knowledge.

Overpopulation is such a bogus issue. It's a self correcting issue. People have less kids as they get more opportunity. Make no mistake, a proper social safety net will increase opportunity. Few people will just be content to fall into it and lay there.

Sears spun off all it's real estate into some sort of real estate holding vehicle. It will be two years this July, which is probably when we'll start seeing liquidation or bankruptcy. Anything before the two year mark allows the courts to dissolve those arrangements and stockholders could claw back some value.

If they enter Bankruptcy before July 2017, there are look back provisions that would negatively effect some of the stuff that was spun off (to enrich specific investors). I doubt they make it to the end of the year without liquidation.

It's interesting, but they do seem to be thriving in lower income and rural areas.
I haven't seen a videos store on my side of town, but at a recent medical appointment for my daughter, I heard another family telling their kids they could go to the video store if they were good.
So I pulled up a google map of Indianapolis, and sure enought, there are plenty of Family Videos. Just not around the North Side. I think more affluent areas, where people have CC's, are mostly served by redbox. They also tend to have decent internet and you can get almost any video rental from Amazon.

It's easy to forget that not everybody has access to credit or debit cards. This makes kiosk services like redbox useless, and prevents them from purchasing online, even if they have reliable internet. Even Netflix is difficult to access, although you can get prepaid cards now.

I wonder how access to credit and debit cards affects piracy rates?

Why is a necessary charity bad if it comes from the Government, but good if it comes from some community group? The Government is the communities way of organizing itself to provide for all the things we need the community to do.
We elect a representative to make decisions that would instead force us to constantly vote on minutia. We contribute money to handle things like roads, vaccines, research, fire fighting, corporate regulations, etc... Why does that hungry, poor, or about to be evicted family down the street stick out as an outlier that the government can't manage for us? Surely we should be creating the best possible system to manage our resources. It's clear that everyone will benefit if that family has a better outcome.

Few people starved to death is a piss poor metric.
Children, mostly, and some adults die from lack of money for medical care. Even today, charity medical care is difficult to access, often impossible. Malnourished children and adults will die from minor illnesses. Mass evictions and homelessness cause significant damage to families and communities. It can take a couple generations for a family to recover from a poverty mindset.
Hungry people also make poor decisions and are poor workers. Taxes seem like a bargain, but what do I know. I'm just someone who really respects life and tries to live as an example to others.
