Get yourself two wifi routers, attach both to your dsl modem, place all the security you can on one, configure the other as open, but only allow connections going outside your network, and restrict the posts to 1-100 and maybe 8080. Viola, no one will ever attack your router because there is an open router available, but said open router won't allow the bandwidth hogging P2P applications.
Wind is really an amazingly good alternative. It quite inexpensive. It depends upon mundane manufacturing and construction processes, nothing exotic or risky like nuclear.
Solar is only just becoming viable now only due to recent break troughs (thin film plastic panels that deliver a great return on investment, but need more space). Again nothing exotic or nasty in the installation, and manufacturing isn't too bad.
Nuclear has an enormous economic cost hidden in the waist disposal, security, inspections, etc.
Why not focus on the low density technologies like wind and solar which have minimal side effects and stimulate a wider variety of everyday industries, i.e. mundane manufacturing and construction.
He makes some rather strong accusations about sweeping abuse within the NZ judicial system, i.e. court records not being accurately recorded, press not reporting on judicial misconduct, etc. So likely this is all for the best. I doubt the Kiwis will give a rats ass, but creating some ongoing record of his objections to their apparently iffy judicial system is a good thing.
Of course he absolutely must reincorporate his site in the U.S. where the NZ judicial system can not touch it.
I've no idea about the details here, but he should have recognized the stupidity of NZ slander laws, and transfered control of the site to family in the U.S. early. If he was only allowed to submit updates, but not deletions or corrections, then the court simply could not force him.

In an ideal world, if the fed. gov. paid for the universities to do the research, they could also pay for the universities to get the drug some preliminary FDA approval. After that, any U.S. based (generic) drug company could produce the drug (completing their part of the approval process). However, only U.S. based companies would have this right.
I realize that Skype is a despicable company, but : - I must use VoIP under adverse network conditions. I've often found SIP blocked while Skype was not. - I've had marginally more trouble with the quality of SIP connections. - I've had trouble finding a good *free* SIP client. I'd need video & voice in said client. I'd also prefer IM presence indicators and IM capacity. - SIP solutions are rarely as easy for less knowledgeable people to set up.
Suggestion? I'd love to switch to SIP, but it's just not been realistic thus far.
