Just to make things actually clear for people:Audio CDs (MP3) are already a lossy format. MP3 does not capture all the audio in a live recording.
This is why audiophiles love vinyl records and why the vinyl industry *grew* in 2016.

No, *I'm* sorry, but i have to call bullshit on your bullshit.
And no, not pre-buyout.
I've run/support huge labs of computers for years and years, and even now ATI/AMD drivers suck ass.
Driver crashes? Only the ATI cards.
BSODs caused by vid drivers? Only the ATI Cards.
I have to go replace 2 more computers as of yesterday, due to the ATI drivers crashing on one and causing conflicts on another.
*You* may be getting lucky, but when you scale it up, AMD drivers still have waaaaay more problems than Nvidia.
The simple reason is marketing.
The advanced reason is laptops.
The initial reason is...Apple.
When Apple started the whole "Watch movies on our new laptop in native widescreen!" trend, that was the start of this whole problem.
Then marketing researchers noticed that people were buying widescreen laptops over non widscreen...and were paying a premium while using a smaller monitor.
Thus, all laptop makers switched to widescreens. It saves them cash, and they could charge the same or more to consumers.
All in all, it sucks bad.
I would say it all depends on what the terms of service say in the contracts you sold the customers.
When did it become ok to charge people for using their broadband ("always on") connection as much as they want?
I know my contract has no text about how much i can use my connection.
Dunno if this would work, but the idea is neat:
Policies for running programs can be controlled via the sudoers file, using groups.
Once on LDAP, the group memberships can be controlled via the central LDAP server.
You could even create a cron job to check/update the sudoers file.
You could take it a step further and write a global login script to lock down all aspects of a system, and have it unlock and lock services/devices based on group membership in LDAP.
This functionality was built into Netware's NFS, all the way back to 3.x (maybe even 2.x)
There was a bit for "Add" and "Edit".
Worked just as the article reads.
I use OSS software becuase its better.
Specifically, I find FileZilla better then any $ costing FTP program out there.
Theres others as well, but this was just the first i thought of..
There is however, good bad and best LINES of HD products out there.
Ive been running a test lab of over 100 computers, and supporting another 100 or so for 7 years. In all that time, i have dealt with just about every line of HDs from every manufacturer. Every single one of them has a line of HDs that suck. Had one shipment from Seagate once where 17 out of 20 HDs went bad within 6 months.
In all the yeras, the only IDR drives i trust now are the Seagate U series drives. They arent the fastest, but they are built to last. And they are quiet. Ive bought hundreds of them for work by now, and have never regretted it. Out of all of them, maybe 5 have gone bad.
Id say no. A player in DAOC, or one of the other MMORGPS never actually CREATES anything. Even in the case of player made items, they are using tools/recipes/procedures created and written by Mythic to have the GAME create them a virtual item.
All code associated with the items in game has been written by Mythic, and therefore is owned and copywrited by them.
Your argument would only hold true on a MUD type system that allowed players to actaully make changes to the code. Thereby actually creating their own items.
