  1. It was in the past on RIAA Abandons Hacking Amendment · · Score: 1

Now, if you do something that may be proven to help the spread of illegal copy of Mp3, you are guilty of it too! I know that you have the right to make personnal copy of your CD in Mp3, but if someone broke into your computer, and than copy your Mp3 files (and this guy doesn't own the original CD, in case you had think so...!), than you are guilty of helping the spread of illegal Mp3! So, if you can't prove that there's 0% chance of someone can copy your Mp3, the RIAA may goes after you.

And, after having said that, if the RIAA is able to break into your computer to see if your Mp3 are legal or not, someone else can do it too... so they erase your Mp3 anyway because you don't protect them enought!

Heh, these guys have think about all the possibilities!

  2. A real good start! on One Year Of OpenOffice · · Score: 3, Interesting

I've look at the features list, and tried it too, and I must say that it's a really good start! And I hope that it will continue like it.

But, even if I know that a lot of you doesn't like Microsoft (and I understand it!), an office suite for Linux can only be complete if it can read/write in .doc format. I'm not saying that this format is better than anything else (an empty .doc file is far from 0k in size, and I've never understand what it can have in it to take that much space on my hard drive...!), but in my case, I have contacts with many people that use Microsoft Office, and I need to share files with them, and read there works and show them mine. Without the support for .doc, this thing become more hard to do; some people don't want to use other things than .doc format. So by now, I use Star Office and KOffice, but I've have trouble with both of them with .doc sometimes. So, if Open Office support this format one day, and handle them good, I'll be very happy to use it!

So, everybody that work on Open Office, continue your good work!

  3. Big doesn't always win... on Napster Calls MusicNet Monopolistic; Judge Agrees · · Score: 1

or I hope so! These days, we always see the _Big_ corporation/organisation (you can replace _Big_ by the name of your choice) winning over the little one in court battle. This time, I hope that MusicNet will be found guilty, this will show people that the giants in the record industry can't do whatever they want with their copyright toys...

  4. Re:Bad News: your joke turned out partly true on Bert Is Evil · · Score: 1

I'm not surprised to learn that CNN _changed_ the facts... in an interview at RDI (canadan french information channel), the head of CNN said something like : "Since the terrorism attack of Sep. 11, the rules of journalism have changed... The most important things for now and the futur, it's to support our country and president."

So for all of you that think that big news network is a safe way to learn about real news, sorry to disapoint you...

  5. Things you can do yourself on Nokia 5510 - Cell Phone and More · · Score: 1

Why, in the phone market (and other "gadjet" markets), they feel the need to put in some specials softwares to help promote/sell the device? I mean, if I want my phone to play MP3, I'll find a MP3 player for the OS running it (palm OS, EPOC, etc.) or a Java MP3 player if the phone support Java. A lot of current phone support Java, or offer the possibility to code for it with C/C++, so why they focus on software? Instead, why they don't add other hardware things, like the FM Radio?

If the device have good hardware things, people will like it, and let the programmers do their jobs, and they will made the MP3 player that you want!

Or you can code it yourself too, it's a lot more phone, heh!

  7. Not tired, wiser... on Torvalds Tells All · · Score: 2, Insightful

Linus have just said exactly the right things. I mean, why Linus would known where Linux will be in 5 to 10 years? I think that if you've had asked him that question when he started Linux first, he would have had an answer like in this interview... surely he want Linux to become great and liked by many people, but I just don't think that it's what he want the most. Like he said, he want Linux to be better than Linux, that's all, and that is great!

Stop willing to be better than the others, and just improve yourself to be better than yourself, and then look around you to see where you are, you'll be the best. By just looking around first, you miss the chance to see what you can do...

That said, it was a great interview, at least to me!
