Not everyone is ok with this. I have been an apple fan since day 3, ( since i wasn't out on the west coast back then to have heard of them, it wasn't on day 1 ) and I'm appalled by what is going on.
I don't understand why people think it is ok to force their beliefs on me.
Because you are a misguided heathen and must be shown the way. Or you will be folded, spindled and mutilated.. ( zappa reference, for those kids around here )
Because if you get enough clueless, misinformed and 'terrified' people running around acting stupid, you end up with rights restrictive legislation like the DMCA.
Remember what is crystal clear to you may not be to the guy coming in to clean your mess up in a few years. ( or even yourself as you have learned more and advanced your skills, and have to go back, often with a 'wtf was i doing'.. )
Having to decode your thought processes places extra a burden on the 'next generation'
As they demand more and more laptop features ( and higher costs ).. as eventually they will become laptops and the market will vanish. The people will still want them, but they wont exist. ( barely do now )
We don't know if these "smarter" humans were over run by less intelligent ones, or if some natural influence wiped them out ( like plague, or weather shifts ).
Making assumptions like this is a mockery of science.
There plenty of inexpensive unlocked 'smart phones' out there now, if you want to look across the ocean to china. Sure, you have to be careful in what you choose, and you may not want to support the country ( clue: most phones are made there anyway... ) but they are available if you want..
You might as well followed it up with a paragraph about how Microsoft uses those little plastic strips in $20 bills to track you when you go through airport scanners....
If so, we can kiss it good bye, which will be a great loss to the community. While they cant buy it out to kill it like they have done to others in the past ( like truespace, for a quick example.. ), I'm sure they will find a way to neuter it.
Thankfully i started my online life at 300, but yes acoustic.. fond (!) memories of dialing the ( rotary ) phone, wait for an answer, then slam the stupid handset into the cups real fast before the receiving end gave up..
Then remembering you forgot to turn off 'call waiting', and prayed that no one would call before your transmission was complete..

Well, that's nice of them, but it should have never happened in the first place.
As they demand more and more laptop features ( and higher costs ).. as eventually they will become laptops and the market will vanish. The people will still want them, but they wont exist. ( barely do now )
And with the way things look, that wouldn't be a bad thing.
That's all it was in the first place, and when it didn't get them as much love as they expected, it was forgot about.

Without these evil fans they have no sales. Pricks. And I'm not even a gamer.
And when you develop mostly AD integrated apps lets see how your isolated VM works out for you.
If you don't trust them with the rights, they shouldn't be working for you.
Already knew about this sort of stuff.. Kids these days ..
I do those translations in my head. My memory is the database. Does that mean I owe IBM royalties?
Yes. And you owe me, services rendered, for answering your question.

And its yours out of the gate. But its all still a big ripoff.
For some, ( not me ) the fact you get to be first in line for the latest shiny object is worth the extra cost to them.

You mean they don't?

I agree, and we weren't in that industry.
Was the ratio i had when i was managing an entire assembly plant's IT operations. Yes i was working my ass off.. 24/7 operation as well.
Where i am now, its more like 500:30000 ( ok, not a true ratio, but i wanted to include the total number too, since its pretty high. )
A lot depends on what industry you are supporting, your user base, and your budget.
Will make navigation sort of hard with a compass.. "North, well its sort of in that direction, kind of...."
I only had one 'acoustic cup' compatible phone as the 'trimline' button phones that i also had weren't shaped properly.
So i was stuck :)
We don't need NASA TV to end up like Mythbusters TV...
