    If you look at the overall federal budget, NASA gets a drop in the bucket compared to Social Services and Defense. The move to extend the Shuttle for a few more years is not a surprise. I don't know, I just get the feeling that if the manned space program ever ends, that will be it. People will start to ask, "Do we really need it?"

    Shortsighted people have been doing that since day one. Its one reason NASA has such a small budget now. its hard to fight ignorance with science.

    Problem solved. We have 'due process' for evicting entire towns. Its happened before. It can happen again.

    May not be practical, but don't say it *cant* happen. And at a 'whim' is sort of relative, you cant fight it when they come to bulldoze your house.

    Saving tax dollars wouldn't serve the governments purpose. they LIKE spending it like its water.

    And if there are more ravaged homes and ruined lives due to inaction, they get to spend even more.

    I don't agree at all.

    Non enforcement does not negate the law. It does sort of make it pointless to have on the books, but it doesn't remove it automatically.

    If they make it more costly or near impossible to actually transfer anything it will effectively kill p2p.

    As a nice side effect ( nice to the government, not us citizens ) it will also kill off privacy protecting projects like freenet.

    Since its just photos, package in a portable DVD player.

    Vacuum packed in plastic bags.

    Of course the DVD dyes may likely deteriorate by then. Using pressed aluminum CD's would do better.
