    Timex wasn't involved when Sinclair first put out the 99 dollar units. They came around with a re-badged version after the ZX-81 called the T1000 however

    Now that we are going back to capped/pay per byte internet it wont be practical to distribute over the net.

    Of course that is part of their plan. Make it too expensive to 'pirate' a movie so you buy it from them instead.

    I believe you misinterpret here. I don't think it was the like for him, but the need for him to remain to protect the stability of the region.

    you topple a leader, even an evil one, and there are a lot of ramifications. In this case, our leaders felt it was the lesser evil and had to play politics with him for the greater good.

    In the early 90's i remember buying a remade tyedye at the local clothing retailer at the mall. ( sure it was fake and was just screen printed, but it looked real )

    It was so strange seeing it on the shelf i just had to buy one. I still wore real ones back then. Not so much now as im too lazy to keep making them :)

    I get it all the time with my hair ( its long ) around here ( the bible belt ). So its believable depending on the area he lives in.

    No, they do get spied on. Just by the state instead of their neighbors. As being rich means you have assets the state wants.

    The core of the problem is there is no duty to recycle. No one sees a problem with neighbor reporting a murder, yet you seem to see a problem with neighbor reporting failure to recycle.

    In some areas it is a law to recyle. and they have *paid* enforcment teams that check out your recyle bins.

    But, they don't go and employ fear so your fellow neighbors will rat you out like where this is heading.

    But at least with HOA's you bought in to and signed the paperwork.

    There is also a big difference in telling your neighbors to keep is grass cut so as not to lower the property value or keeping an eye on things while you are on vacation, and turning people in to the cops because he has "suspicious friends" coming over or has too many deliveries from UPS ( don't laugh, ive been questioned about that very thing.. 'you a spy or something' was what i was asked.. sure it was innocent this time, but next time it might spawn a HSD squealer report with cash reward instead )

    Yet. Sure you are allowed to dissent, but you are also liable to be investigated and detained for 'national security reasons'.

    Think that fear isn't a real deterrent? Who among us can withstand a hardcore investigation where they strip your house clean and even check out your pocket lint from 40 years ago? Who here wants to cast the first stone?

    They were sort of backed into that corner due to budget issues.

    NASA really couldn't afford to go the other route and have specialized transports as things would have been spread far too thin and jeopardize it all.
