    Boycott their tourist industry and all products exported from that country.

    Perhaps if you kill them financially they might think again about selling out.

    Personally, thats one less place I will be visiting and taking my vacation dollars to.

    Have they not been doing this for some time?

    I have ordered servers that were 'blank' as far back as 5 years ago.. And i know back then they also offered bare desktops too ( but you had to dig deep to find those ).

    Ibm also used to offer 'choice'. Donno about now, considering they dont actually make desktops/laptops any longer.

    How many stores offer 1 day rentals these days?

    I dont rent any movies, so its an honest question. Back when i did, you got them for several days so you could watch them more then once.. Or at the least go back and replay scenes you missed while in the bathroom ..

    Having the DVD self-destruct on a time scale, instead of a view-scale makes more sence to me, but then again im a consumer trying to watch a movie, not the corporation trying to suck me dry.

    Ya, ive been there. Well not filthy wealthy, but wealthy enough that i felt it was safe to stand up for what i believe in.

    After some unexpected things happened, I'm back on the other side, working for a living, I'm much less vocal. I Have mouths to feed and a mortage to pay, and that has to come first.

    And yes, some bridges were burnt when i felt i could afford to be 'honest' with the world.

    Yes, but when the $ is high enough their 'voice' gets drowned out.

    Remember that for most of the attorneys out there their reason for being one is to make money, its their job.. Most of us swallow our morals to a degree when we work for someone else.

    Its not until they are REALLY wealthy and older, that they can start to make a statement on their beliefs and stand up for what THEY belive in, instead of thinking of that mortage and car payment first.

    Instead of the citizen. Could have guessed that one considering she was appointed by a politician..

    Or could it be she was just defending her client? She was being PAID by microsoft, it doesnt mean she actually supported the decision. Attorneys are not paid to make moral judgements, they are paid to defend their client and try to win. ( and of course to make money for themselves.. )

    Perhaps now her client is 'the people', and she will fight for us.

    Sure, its sad we have reached this point, but its a sign of society in general.

    When was the last time a home break-in was on the front page of the paper? ( unless it was someone 'special' of course.. )

    Crime has just become part of the 'background noise' in life today.. Almost like the world of marketing has..

    I already have that, its called VNC.. ( running via inetd )

    Sure its not for everyone, but with that method you get access to YOUR stuff.. on YOUR machine.. You dont have to trust some abstract company 'out there' with your data. And its free.

    Now to be honest i get home via SSH for security, but i could just as easily open up the HTTP ports..

    No modern OS is flawless. Due to feature creep and the massive amounts of code involved, none can really be considered 'near flawless'. ( agreed, some are better then others )

    Its the job of the administrators to mitigate and compensate for known, and unknown, security flaws.

    Well, at least he didnt create an entire governmental department to handle this and pushed it back out to the civil arena like other things should be ( hint : *AA ).

    However, since this often involves stealing of personal information and actual theft, perhaps it should have remained a criminal issue..

    I would agree that orbit pattern would be a primary factor, but i dont think that size or distance should matter. Not sure if orbit plane should be factored in either.

    Perhaps there is no real easy answer to this, as even a large enough asteroid could support life in theory..

    Whatever. I think i hear your mother calling you.

    99% of the people that donate time to OSS are amateurs. Its a matter of precentages. 1% does not make the *group* a bunch of professionals.

    The people hat are working for these large coporations are *by definition* trained professionals.

    That doesnt mean that the armatures that are doing work 'for' OSS arent doing something good, its just a statement of what they are and their skill level.

    Its reality, not a theory. ( and Im done with this pointless discussion, so dont bother )

    I dont think you want me to answer that question.

    But, its the only country i would trust to control things. And no, we are not perfect, and are getting worse each day in several areas, but we are still the best run at this point.

    Yes, i support my country, but I'm also not blind.
