However it should be pointed out that form the 400 to the year 1500 (CE) there were masive world wide migrations from the North to the South. Angles, Saxsons, Jutes, Goths, VisiGoths, Vandals, Huns. in Europe. Inuit (Rather the people who were before the modern Inuit) abandoned The High Canadian Artic. China Was invaded from the north also at the same time.

If you want more evidence of Climate chage
There are Prehistoric Farms that are being uncovered in Northeren Europe that are well with in the current Perma-frost regions.

Britans main Export in the Roman era was Wine (From Grapes)So it had a warmer climate.

Cartharage Was a major exporter of Wheat... Indicating a wetter climate. Now it is just desert.

We can also ask How all those Coral Islands Rose above the surface of the seas also... Did Global cooling lower the water levels, and they are now returning.

I am a bit confused about that as well.

Orwell Didn't write that many books. As I reember it In 1984 the war was an excuse to get rid of unemployed people, and to cover up the basic inefficency in the system. (You can't get eggs to day becasue there is a war on ... Like the chickens sundenly stopped laying eggs.)

However It has been a long time since I read the book. (And I suspect Katz as well).

I also have NO idea what Wells story he is refereing to. I do remeber a story about air combat "The war in the Air"....but I don't remeber drones in that one.

And I do remember a short story about Technolagy used in war ("The Land IronClads") But I always thought that was about tanks. It sort of makes the point that Katz was.....grasping for.

If you want to get picky, the Biblical stories are even older then the Greek, and have had far more of an impact on Western lit. They also are an Oral Tradition that was written down. LOTB
