I used a system improperly over the course of a month. It connected to some services that ran up a $50k bill. I was mortified when my boss told me, thought for sure I'd be canned on the spot. I was only 22 and it was my first job out of college, so the amount was nearly double what I was being paid. The boss basically took the heat for not having explained it to me better, and I was not reprimanded in any way.
Hillary consistently refers to herself as 'Hillary', not 'Clinton' (go to her website, or see any of her campaign swag). The same goes for Obama. I see nothing wrong with calling them their preferred campaigning name. I am especially tired of the people that say Hillary is being 'disrespected as a woman' because she is called by her first name. Let it go already.
"but our companies are having difficulty finding Americans with the background"
If they didn't spend the past 5 or so years convincing the next generation of potential IT workers that all of their jobs were going to be sent overseas for next to nothing, they might have some people domestically with the skills they are looking for.
The bottom line is their are people in the U.S. with the skills, they just cost more. Now they are running short of people overseas, and they have to start paying more.
Yes, I am biased from my work on an Indian call center that included me being laid off at the completion of the project, so my ideas may be more emotional than rational. I think there is some truth in what I'm guessing.
At the (small) company I work for, we have been using http://manageengine.adventnet.com/products/service -desk/. It is a pretty nice tool, with some pieces that we will probably never use. I used to work for a couple really big companies that used really big (read: expensive) tools, and this one covers most of those bases pretty well. For small installs (25 pcs) you can use this one for free.
Wouldn't you expect the 'leading' OS to always be the target of attack? People want to make their statment, and how much of a statement do you make if you bring down both people running OS/2?
So in short, the obvious was just proved. TCO is raised by being the most used OS. It is a bullseye that everyone will aim for.
Everything else is globalizing as the field levels across the world. Economies, education, I dont see why we should be so surprised of the same in the field of science.
I emailed my representative about my concerns with the DMCA (pre-Sep 11), and within a couple weeks got a form letter, followed by a 'real' letter about a week after that. No where did it say anything about what side he stood on. But he assured me that he is concerned! I feel like such an integral part of the system... (smell that, that is sarcasm)
At only 300 Hertz this doesn't seem to be happening with high frequency.

Tethering is a built in feature now, via bluetooth or usb cable.
Billy Joel? I was pretty confused for a minute there. This is what happens to my brain when I am in electoral statistics withdrawal.

They bought the moon? Wait, that's no moon...
I sooo read the headline (and really wanted this to be) "Interview with Ric Romero" I know, wrong site. A guy can dream.
If the damn smugglers would stop stealing the meds, this wouldn't be a problem.

What is this li-brar-ee thing you speak of? That must have been where people accessed the internet before computers...

Just what I need, something to light up all my chip crumbs and small bits of Hot Pocket on the keyboard...
