  1. Hate that! on Slashback: P2P, OS X, Blinkenlights · · Score: 3, Interesting

Even though they may have a case, I just don't like the fact that some major corporation can shut down your website based solely on their word.

In my opinion, this is something only a court should be able to order.

I suppose part of the problem is that there are people who simply cannot see the benefits to space travel and would rather spend money on social programs or defense spending.

  9. The CNN Poll on Judge Says Microsoft Must Give States Windows Code · · Score: 1

I just voted and it was 60% against/40% for giving the 9 States access to the source code.

I was a little surprised by this but I shouldn't have been. There is a large group of non-technical people who still think that MS has done nothing wrong.

Of course, these people never tried to order a computer without Windows on it!

I work in a warehouse maintaining an inventory of surplus US Government Aircraft parts. To do this, we use MS DOS 6.22 and DBase 4.

What's really funny is that now there are some people wanting to switch us to Windows and Access, both of which really give us nothing over our current setup!

The very first computer that I owned was the Powerbook 100. The PB100 was manufactured for Apple by Sony and it was essentially a shrunk down Mac Portable, which is why it can run System 6.

I bought it the first weekend in September, 1992. Apple was having a fire-sale, trying to unload them, and I got mine for $700.00. The unit came with 2MB of Ram, a 20MB hard drive, and an external floppy drive. The included system software was System 7.0.1, if memory serves. I later upgraded the computer to 8MB of RAM.

Although its 16Mhz 68000 was underpowered, it run Hypercard and Prince of Persia very well. It could also retain the contents of it's Ramdisk, which allowed me to boot from the Ramdisk if I chose to.
