  1. Re:RIAA on RIAA Sues Audiogalaxy · · Score: 0

Sorry I should have phrased that when the RIAA believes people are no longer "pirating" music. Though it seems increasingly clear that making any sort of copy even for your own private use is being looked at as piracy.

Come off it as well, the massive success of these file sharing programs does not come from sharing legit files. How many people do you know aside from yourself perhaps, that share only legitmate files and nothing that isn't copyrighted or illegal to have copies of without proper payment? I don't know any, but I know plenty of people who have five gigabytes and more worth of commercial MP3s, movies, etc.

Perhaps I was assuming, but when the majority falls in to the illegal category instead of the minority.. What else is there to do?

I still do not believe it right that the RIAA is going after AudioGalaxy, I think they're fighting their battle in the wrong place and in the wrong way, but they'll stop at nothing until they get their money out of this. When you look at it, the whole issue comes down to the mighty buck and where the money goes.

But this is all my opinion I could be and probably am wrong.

  2. Re:RIAA on RIAA Sues Audiogalaxy · · Score: 1, Informative

Probably when people stop pirating music.

Unfortunatly that is unlikely as sharing services will continue to pop up and become more and more difficult to shut down. If the silly group of corporate intrests would just realize that in the long run allowing sharing to go on is probably a good thing, they would save a lot of time and money on everyones efforts.

I don't even want to think how many cd's I bought cause I was able to download tracks from albums where I only had heard one song on the radio. Those that had at least one to two more tracks I liked I bought. In the space of a year my CD collection must have grown by at least thirty CDs.

With the exception of two that I can think of have been buying more music with the advent of MP3 sharing, I still don't understand the point of shutting these systems down when it seems people buy more music. But I suppose its all about control... Isn't everything?

Very cool, though it certainly rates as whoever created that had way way too much time on their hands and nothing to do with it. :) All things being equal though, I've let it run in a window for the last several minutes and will probably watch it straight through..
    Ugh..
Slave to Star Wars.. Can't resist..

My thoughts exactly... Though the cost of the thing is prohibitive, I'd be too afraid of leaving it at work and coming in one day to see it mangled by the boos having gotten fed up with being shot at every time he walked in the door to my office. You see my desk faces the direction of the door and I have the perfect angle...

Heh, the cost is the only thing that kept me from getting one of those at the time, that and my mom telling me she thought it would be dangerous..

So she bought me one of the pistols. I remember I think I could have two rubber bands on it at a time, while they didn't hurt when they hit you, it was amazingly accurate.

I've seen similar models on websites, as well as demonstrations at craft shows. These things are AWESOME. Though it does take some time to load them, the payoff is worth it. I've been contemplating one of these bad boys for the defense of my desk area to keep people I don't want to talk to out of my office..

Just havn't gone through with it, for now the automatic nerf gun I've got works just as well..

What about people who want to still use their own Pentium Pro 200?

The one I am using right now would crash and burn hard if I tried to run XP on it (only 64MB of ram) even if I had 128MB of ram. Linux seems to be happy enough with only 64MB though...

But then, everyone is entitled to their opinion, I was just offering another viewpoint.

The one point I'd like to counter a bit is the fact about cloning...

In the first movies there was mention of the CLONE wars. Through out the books that come after the first three there is mentions of cloning and in fact in the Heir to the Empire or Dark for Rising series, I can't remember exactly my memory is failing me this morning, there is an entire portion of the plot dedicated to fighting newly created clones and how the Empire had created clones using Spaarti tanks.

Lucas is not jumping on the bandwagon specifically as it is. I think EP:II is supposed to take place during the Clone Wars anyway so in reality the title makes a little sense. Though I must say I don't really like the title it doesn't roll of the tongue well.

I can't believe I am actually defending this considering how little faith I actually have in seeing the movie, but that's a whole other issue. Time to go find some coffee..

  9. Re:How about Bruce and Linus instead? on Attack of the Clones · · Score: 0

Actually to be perfectly honest, I probably would have been. I thought the movie was done, and personally I think Lucas has stuffed enough big names in to the movie at this point. Leave it be and release the damn thing.

But, as we've seen he can't leave well enough alone, between his trying to push technology as hard as possible, to the fact that he should've allowed someone else to write the screenplays and direct the rest of the movies.. But what do we matter, we're only the fans right?

Wow.. I sound cynical, maybe I shouldn't post when I'm sick.

  10. I thought.. on Attack of the Clones · · Score: 0

Let me open with the fact that I thought episode II was done already. As you read the rest of my comment, bear in mind that for a very long time and infact up until recently I was a huge star wars fan.

I thought I'd have some faith in Episode II, but with this addition, I really have to question whether or not I will even see the movie..

I heard about this on the radio last night and was disappointed to say the least.. Why won't lucas sell the franchise off to someone else, or let someone else take it over, he apparently doesn't have any idea what to do with his films anymore... Give it to someone with vision, or at least someone who might remain true to what the originals were.

Yes they were cheesy at points, and the acting wasn't great, but it was a good story. Now EP:1 seemed like it was a test of technology, to push as far as it could go, and EP:2 I fear may be the same. Except that in EP:2 there is going to be a pile of fairly big name celebrities in highly advanced CG effects.

I really want to see EP:2 for the lightsaber battles, but the addition of NSuck to it may drive me from seeing the movie on the big screen at all. Its really depressing that a few well placed mistakes about these movies could ruin one of my all time favorites. I still love the originals, but the EP:1 was something of a disgrace, EP:2 unless its spectaular, above and beyond what everyone is expecting, the movie may really destroy what little is left of Star Wars. At least in my opinion anyway, yours may and probably does vary.

Actually, if you look at the rolemaster rules for middle earth, you may find that defeating Aragorn and more importantly Gandalf in either fashion may present a larger problem then at first glance. Especially if they're run properly. :) Though I would imagine the idea of this is to win in the end and as such they'll probably make a fatal mistake, either intentionally from the DM or unintentially due to alcohol consumption...

Can you tell I've played out similar scenarios before with my gaming group? Though when we did it, we were not going to remove the ring, we were going to fight in the war against Mordor. Nothing like mass combat on an epic scale. We survived, barely.. Orcs hit a lot harder in middle earth then they do in the realms. :)

I believe the answer you are looking for is, "Because you can."

The same question could be asked of people who port Linux to C64s, or make a game boy in to a spectrum analyzer. The question is not why, certainly there are prepackaged way of doing this sort of thing that might be(are) cheaper, but its the fun of doing it that is the point.
