The article should say "Broadband connections unneeded by many.."
It's all about how community works... in USA people like to give money to people they think deserve it. Buying games, programs, windows? I think 90% of USA users don't pirate software... but in europe this number is significantly lower.. i would say 30-40% people are not pirating software. Yeh.. you buy game that you really like, and programs that you really need... but other things you pirate. I will not buy a game which I will play for few days. I will simply download it.. it's there, it's accessible...
I live in slovenia and we will get our DSL upgraded to 2Mbit/s unlimited traffic for $40/month. And there is similar situation in other EU contries. (except UK.. their broadband suckz). I don't see why would i need 2Mbit connection for other that warez and gaming... most people who don't pirate, don't need broadband.
What about security and privacy? How do you choose who you want to provide with wireless access? Even if you lock users to certain IPs and MAC addresses.. those can still be faked. Connections are probably SSL-like encrypted.. but if you sniff both hashes, you can get all data. This is a bit harder on cable, because you need physical access.. and even harder on optics. But anyway... i think wireless telecomunications pose quite high security risk. Unless client is off-line provided with hash code.
Actually there is quite cheap equipment(just mod of ordinary satellite dish and software) to sniff all non-encrypted SAT-internet traffic. Most of traffic is unencrypted anyway and noone can detect you, because you are not transmitting a thing.. just receiving.
US goverment is cotnrolled by oil! USA bought alaska from russia in 1867 because of oil. USA struck Afganistan, so they can make pipelines through it. They will strike iraq for oil, because reserves in alaska are running out.
Better countries? Plenty of them.. finnland, sweden, netherlands,... and other -social- countries. The only problem is.. Americans are frightened of high taxes.
Freedom anywhere is utopia, we are always restricted by something, let it be concience, law or physics. (if we're not restricted by gravity, we are by distance) But, i think americans are having their freedom restricted for cause of safety. Alive slave, or dead but free? There is very nice quote which would fit the topic: "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. --Benjamin Franklin, 1759" And i would have to agree...
Your god exists, and others don't? Your god is right and others aren't? And then religious people make stupid excuses like.. god is inside of everyone, god is your soul... and so on.
And I can go to space anytime i want. I really can! Except that you might think i mean universe.. i actually meant local bar to which i can go anytime i want.
It's just a matter of interpretation. And so called "God" is changing form so it can still fit the bible and all other religious crap.
I didn't say i know.. that's why i said "probably".. It's possible, but it's unlikely. You can find more info on t these forums, there are quite some physics freaks posting interesting things. They are answering to other questions too, like "what is the speed of gravity?".
Actually in vacuum hydrogen would fall down. And those anti-matter particles are created in vacuum (held in place by strong electromagnets).. but they probably wouldn't "fall up", because the only thing that differs between particle and antiparticle is it's spin. (it's not really the speed particle is rotating at.. but more like internal momentum).
...of computers with 32 cluster cpu power? And own 32 companies with 32 such clusters? Yea.. you could go on.. but then you better use ipv6 before you run out of ip addresses:)
Actually we will get full episode from internet. Producers from many series said that it's fine with them for episodes to spread via internet.
I know for sure producers of Southpark and Stargate SG-1 said it's ok for episodes to be availbile on the net. I'm sure it's same for Farscape too. (do you really think they would air this in slovenia?) But heck.. i watched all episodes that i downloaded from internet (we have good and quite cheap connections here) and i'm a supporter, a fan.. or an addict if you like.
Can producers loose money because of me? Absolutely not.. if I wouldn't get it from internet i couldn't watch it and I couldn't do a shit about it. Can they profit? In fact, they can... if we get critical mass of local fans.. maybe local TV stations will see series as popular ones and buy rights to air it.
All such restrictions are pointless. They only lower quality of their services for average users. (it's same with music CDs that are unplayable on PCs). It's obvious that if show can be watched, it can be recorded in same quality as well. Of course you need right equipment for that, and only people who will profit from recording of aired show will have it. They are doing right the opposite of what they intended, and they might lose customers because of that.

Cheap KVM Over IP?

Yahoo would loose users if they wouldn't pay to ISPs/country or if they disabled free services.
Of course this wouldn't apply to non-profitable sites.. but only for commercial sites.
I'll give you another hint.. less profit for internet companies (like yahoo, ebay,...), more profit for ISPs -> more ISPs = cheaper internet access.
Portals need ISPs, not vice-versa... and 90% of all isps provide you with all services you need. (news, mail, web, search engine,...)
You'd switch to other ISP? Even if it was twice as expensive? For few shitty portals?!
This blocking thing is very good idea.. ISPs would then get money from internet giants like ebay, yahoo,... instead of users. It makes internet cheaper for us.
Stargate SG1 is show that cannot be watched occasionally... the episodes are very connected and if you miss important episode you simply cannot follow the show. Some of such episodes are (the children of the gods, 5th race, Tok'Ra, The Enemy within,... and so on) If you didn't watch those episodes there is no sense in watching SG-1..
And that is the only reason why people don't seem to like SG-1... I didn't like it at first either, but then I watched from beginning all episodes.. and it hooked me.
If I don't understand swedish, I won't understand swedish morse code. Does any translator know swedish?

Those silly americans are suing everyone for everything.. there is always only one winner in the end and that's a lawyer. He always wins.

Dude, you live in wrong London!
Not only funny, it's slow too.. i believe it's made on purpose to emulate my good old 1200bps modem.

Put few of those together and we can at least make some decent 64 player BF1942 servers.

Buy long enough cables, of course!
It feels windows application to me.. in fact.. it natively runs on WINDOWS! I think this entitles mozilla as windows application!
There's a pop-up ad blocker for windows.. works very nice with IE. But i use mozilla because it has tabbed browsing, and only because of that.
