  1. Very good phone phreak lore.. on Teen Phone Phreak Targeted by the FBI · · Score: 1

Back in 1971, Esquire magazine published an article called, "Secrets of the Little Blue Box." It's a bit lengthy but it's a very good text on this culture. Because the 'underground' (for lack of a better name) is now a very solidly rooted subculture, I think it's important for people to learn where the people before them came from. Read this!! http://www.brainmist.com/phone/blue_box.htm

I heard about this from some friends that live in the seattle area. This was just before defcon last year. It is aperently legal to have sex with animals there. The very scary part is there's a video somewhere (I don't know where, don't want to), the guy has 'relations' with the horse, asks if he 'finished' and then went to the hospitial where he died of a perferated colon... So, that's a not-so-great story, here's the funny.. At blackhat 05, there was an issue with cisco, it became dubbed, "ciscogate" Shirts were made, on the front, cisco gate, on the back was the saying we'd come to enjoy all week, "horse cock" as seen here: http://23b.org/gallery/fleas_defcon_13/ala I BELIEVE it was tomshardware that used a picture of the front of the shirt on a table along side their story of the events. If you look very closely, you just make out the back of the shirt... :)

  4. good for nanny, bad for us on MS Security VP Mike Nash Replies · · Score: 1

I think it would be nice if microsoft could discover problems such as spyware before Mr Nash's nanny became a victim. In the question concerning regular users, Mr Nash references his family and how changes have been made based on interactions with them, perhaps interacting with a few more of the millions of users might help out...

  5. Illegitimate copies and security patches on Ask Microsoft's Security VP · · Score: 1

Microsoft products (namely XP) have become ubiquitous around the world as the PC desktop operating systems, with this success microsoft has been very profitable. I think microsoft deserves both the success and the profit, after all they've(you) have worked long and hard and spent gobs of time and money developing and marketing the products. I believe microsoft has a right to protect it's property and revenue. What concerns me is that with the vast coverage of MS products, even a small percentage of the illegitimate(pirated etc) copies represent a massive installation base. Now that users have to authenticate their copy before receiving updates, this massive base is left vulnerable to attacks that not only put them at harm but also uses of legitimate MS products and virtually every other operating system user on the internet. Can you please explain the rational behind this decision and the perceived outcome and consequences this will have in the next few years?

  6. Linux watch loses credibility... on Why Slackware Still Matters · · Score: 1

After reading the guest column by Alan Canton, I've concluded, along with many peers that Linux watch has lost any credibility they once had by printing pure tripe. The column made no meritous points, had no real information and provided no solutions, it was simply Mr Canton's voice to gripe about something he has little clue about. It's been more than 3 years since slackware has had an automated package management system (swaret). If Mr Canton had actually USED slackware, he would understand the difference between the need for updates on fedora and slackware (50/month versus 50/RELEASE). It's frankly sad that this article was run, if Linux watch is that hard up for content, perhaps you should not bother publishing at all.

  8. AUTO SIZE IMAGE!! Wow, mozilla is almost IE!! on Mozilla.org Launches Mozilla 1.3 · · Score: 2, Insightful

How awesome that instead of trying to decrease the memory footprint, increase stability or actually improve usability, the mozdev team focusing on ripping off EVEN MORE useless features from IE. My favorite is the removal of items from the right click menu's in the context sensitive way of doing things. Never mind going back is the second most used function, let's get it off that menu. When I brought this up, I was told I could edit the code to put it back, wow, talk about usuability, just rewrite the code! Good job mozdev, you keep showing the world that in the face of adversity you can keep making something worse and still take credit for it, believing all the while, and convincing not a few that you've done somthing great.

It's a giant pile of junk basiclly. Pretty sure wank means pretty much the same to everybody ;) Nobody does anything refering to wank without trying to hide in the bathroom while doing it. Fag is a good example tho, offer a fag to somebody over here and you'll get punched, kissed or just looked at strangely depending on the part of town you're in.
