    First of all, fatalities aren't the only accidents. Secondly, you don't have to drive them a hundred million miles to get a statistically significant sample. Thirdly, it's not just trucking companies, but their insurance carriers and all of their customers who will want to see this legislation.

    The government isn't going to let fully automated trucks run around with nobody to watch them any time soon,

    I give it a couple of years, tops. Once the data are in showing a significantly lower accident rate than human drivers, those rules requiring a human on board will look like the rule about all cars having to be preceded by a man on foot carrying a red flag.

    high school graduates who have been coasting through life thinking their whiteness entitles them to a middle class lifestyle are toast. The number of jobs they're intellectually capable of performing is set to dwindle.

    I can say the same thing about anyone with a (whatever) "studies" degree. Making coffee's pretty easy to automate.

  8. Power generation isn't the only use for coal. If you don't want coal, then steel production can be done just as well in the USA, Brazil, China, Japan, and Korea.

  10. For month's I've been thinking that Trump could win the election only if the electronic voting machines were hacked.

    Or, just maybe, he won because Hillary was such a craptastic candidate that millions of people who voted for Obama didn't bother to show up.

    Trump had fewer votes overall than Romney, and Romney was up against the most popular democrat since JFK.

    The horse is dead. Flogging it won't help.

  12. They're still selling, but not enough to compete for scarce engineering time with other products. The same guys who work on the AirPort could also be working on the WiFi in the phones, iPads and Macs, and it's not a hard business decision to put them on the higher-revenue products.

    you are saying that because Obama isn't going to pardon Snowden, he is phoning it in?

    You're reversing the cause and effect. Obama isn't going to pardon Snowden, because he simply doesn't care enough to do the right thing for a man who has done far more for our country than Obama ever will.
