Recompiling the kernel isn't at all like rebuilding an engine. All you really have to do is change some settings, maybe using: make xconfig, then when thats done, type: make dep clean modules modules_install bzImage.. and you're pretty much done.
Are you referring to SETI@HOME? Because on their website to search for a group, people are typing "slashdot" instead of "team slashdot". So everybody, make sure you all join "TEAM SLASHDOT" not "SLASHDOT"
Well, I've got mprime and rc5 running, with rc5 at a niceness of 16, and mprime at 19. It works out to about 70/30 % of CPU time when nothing else is running.
