    1. Terrorists kill 5000 people

You are incorrect in stating, "this involves only a relatively small amount of people"
An act as complex, and well coordinated as this is definetely state sponsered, and I would venture to reason by more than one.

This was not a "crime" of terrorism, this was an act of war. Past actions of tracking down individuals, and bringing them before a court has not and will not work. Sending a terrorist to prison for 20 years, isn't going to deter his peers that are willing to crash a plane filled with passengers.

If a movement within the U.S. openly supported roaming streets and shooting children, would we only arrest those who fired the gun? Or would we track down all those involved with the group.

Same with terrorism, it is not a crime, it is an act of war. Terrorists and those sympathic and supportive such acts, should be eradicated from this planet as they have nothing to offer but hate and death of innocents.

  11. Re:Die Harder on Mandrakesoft To IPO · · Score: 1

Ok I see it starting already, Mandrake better than RedHat and vice versa. Does "better" really matter? If it did, would MicroSoft have the foothold they do? RedHat has positioned itself pretty good (Dell, Compaq etc. anyone), as well as making a name for itself. When most people (i.e. pointy hairs) think of Linux, they think of RedHat.

On the flipside however, Large Companies are (unlike some of the users in the VA thread) NOT in the business of building their own computers, and grabbing any ol' distribution. They buy Servers from well established companies with support contracts. So they go something like the Dell 2450 route, with RedHat installed, and everything supported.

Comments that state that RedHat would only have the server market... hello, why would they want to bother with anything else? Why fistfight with like 50+ distro's for pennies, when you can sell $25k+ server support contracts to large companies.

This is NOT to say one is better than the other, it's just to point out that RedHat is in a better position both Market and Financial. Mandrake as a company has hinted at financial trouble in the past, and needs to generate more funding. Hence, IPO. Is this a good way? I don't think so, but with the Market the way it is, and VC's holding onto their dollars so tight that the Washington Screeches, it may be Mandrake's only path to more funding.

And for the "flame" record: I have both Mandrake and RedHat installed (but I use Sol2.7 most of the time;)

Does anyone else find this contradictory.

So if you we're not capable of understanding the ballot that was mailed to you prior to the election, nor did you understand the same ballot when you voted, then you we're robbed. However,
if you are in the military and serving in a location whereas the mail is not Postmarked, then you are just an unfortunate victim of the system... huh?

*Note absentee ballots must be postmarked, however several overseas locations, and those serving ship duty do NOT have their mail postmarked. So the individual was supposed to write the date on the ballot, however the ballot did not state this, nor did it request a date.

*Note in the state of Florida all registered voters are mailed a copy of the ballot and instructions a week prior to voting, as to avoid
    any confusion.

To be completely honest with you, you are going to have a tough fight ahead. I have read some really good reasons from Slashdot users why you shouldn't change a thing, but are these going to change the minds of those who want Outlook and Exchange? No.

I have fought that fight. Technical reasons do not penetrate the thick heads of pointy haired managers.

My personal experience is to ask them specifically what they want. When they respond with Outlook and Exchange, ask why. Get to the core of what they really want, and be prepared to have the Unix alternative solutions. If you can answer with "we can currently provide those features, without spending additional monies on equipment, application and server licenses, training, additional administrative support (Exchange is a Full time job) and support contracts with MS", you will be more successful.

If you do not get to the core of what they really want, Outlook and Exchange won't be any better than what you are currently providing.

I run two Exhange 2000 servers supporting a large number of users. I haven't had any major problems, minor bugs. Administration, however, consumes entirely too much time. Just $0.02.

Footnote, one of the "Faction" leaders may be leading the charge just so to take some credit when the implementation is over. If this is the case Good Luck!
