Hear, hear... If someone can explain why big slow code improves upon what C is all about, I'm ready to listen. But they'd better be coherent and well informed, as my experience is that C++ = major bloat (here comes flamebait) it might be bigger, but it is in no sense faster (machine code kills all - if you're dedicated)

panasonic manufactured a tuner that made use of this technology in the 90's. I'm sorry microshaft, but in my opinion, you'll have to JUSTY YOURSELVES on this one... panasonic did this one in hard ware as far as I can tell. Also I did the same thing in the same time period, in my AMX progamming stint...

Hear, hear I've written tight assembled code in 2k that would take 30-odd k under an embedded o.s. but even a C/c++ compiler should do a good enough job. I know that motorola has a real-time kernel for its 68hc11 series that would some serious multi-tasking, although (caveat) you have to take TIME into account. Nevertheless anything is better than having to explain BSOD to a paying customer. 'my app didn't crash, it was windows...' just doesn't cut it.....

My first response was 'Oh F*** off!!!' push to talk has been around almost as long as marconi. then I took a moment to think. My response was unaltered. this situation calls for some serious dark alley and baseball bat (I'm australian but the baseball bat makes a better club than a cricket bat) action. I am sick to death of this bulls**t!!! This is like someone claiming a trademark on 'press five to delete'. I repeat this is BullS**t!!!

all i can say is amigdos 1.0. We had a graphical (read windowing) interface from boot. not a desktop, that required another 100 odd k of libraries etc. but on boot we had access to a full windowing dos-style environment. The mouse worked. What do you want? go and check out an amiga, any amiga. Any day now you guys will get it.
