pluto may not be a planet, that is debatable. But comets have already been probed. I believe NASA has either already sent a mission to a comet or is in the process of preparing one. on the other hand, pluto has only had long range, high speed fly bys done to research it-no craft has landed, orbited, or come close enough to it to get really good pictures.
how about going to pluto? it would cost $600 million to send a probe, but the new nasa budget failed to include funding for that. If we don't launch a probe in 2006, we will have to wait 150 years for another opportunity. $600 million is nothing compared to the billions being tossed around on stuff like missile defense, so why not spend it and take advantage of this unique oppurtunity?
that is a response to your question of whether their laptops can be plugged into non-mac monitors. I was pricing one out recently, and one of the options was a ~$20 VGA adapter. I guess that answers one of your many questions.
This is not meant as a troll. I am merely stating what has already been put across many times on here at a place where it is relevant. IBM, for all its claims about supporting linux, still holds fast to windows on its desktops for business. I believe that its commitment to linux is limited to the server market, which is why they do not put out linux versions of much of their desktop software, i.e. ViaVoice.
I read an article a few years ago that said that linux was the OS of choice for wearable computers because its smaller drain on the processor meant less heat and therefore less discomfort. You also don't want your borg hardware crashing on you;)
Just another instance of big blue's underwhelming support. But seriously, they likely consider it more of a server and mainframe OS, as they don't offer it on any of their desktops preinstalled.
more likely they would buy the guys behind one of the BSD versions. After all, they use BSD already on their servers (and they want everyone else using IIS...or maybe MSBSD;).
I see you don't know what an elemental is. it is a suit of powered armor developed by the clans in the battletech universe armed with mech-scale weapons and equipped with jump jets, gripping claws, stimulant drugs for the warrior inside, a self-healing mechanism and more. shoot a hellfire at that thing and it would shake it off. then it and its buddies would shoot down your chopper with a missile barrage or precision laser fire. Forget daisy cutters. you need a katana to the head to kill one of these.

I DID read the piece and that was what was implied to me. I was not focusing on that part of the piece when I read it.
it was 3.01, WITH water cooling and a handpicked processor. and it still wasn't fully stable.
I made that mistake once, get flamed 20 times and had a point of karma burned at the stake for it.
to get experience you need to get a job in the field.

heh.
distributer is more like it. they distribute their version of linux(their distro), and they support it. I say they are distributers

probably because it is meant to compete with the celeron and the PIII, neither of which have the artificially inflated clock speeds of the P4.

Found with a quick google search.

you forgot about the "mutant sperm" trolls.
Neither was diablo. diablo was isometric, as this appears to be. However diablo was prerendered (mostly), and this appears to be rendered on the fly.
but he was beaten by an american computer! bwahahahaha! We defeated the ruskies! ;)
A lot of stuff on there is NOT quality, especially their DBZ crap and stuff like Zoids (they killed Reboot for THAT?!?).
How long until it hits australia/south america/NZ at this rate?
that the paper will be made available in Portable Document Format?

or, it could just stay this size and be an Elemental (SRM-2, Laser, MG, flamethrower. BOOYAH!)
"he could [cite] statistics"
there are three kinds of lies: lies, damn lies and statistics. you want your politicians to lie? (er..nevermind)
does that mean working on your laptop while leaping from an airplane? (that was what first came to mind;)
