What get me is when greybeard waste-of-space fossils whine and bitch about shit they only read about and never bothered to properly learn or understand. Like it or not systemd solves actual problems in ways that initd/inetd/xinetd never could. There are REAL and VALID reasons why it is being adopted so heavily by pretty much every linux distro. Just because you can't see a need for it for your particular use cases doesn't mean it's not a good project.

I can only hope that you hunker down in your initd distro of choice. You'll be cruising around in your fricking modelT while the rest of the world will smoke your ass in pretty much any category. By all means it's your right to bitch and whine and moan and choose a ModelT. but what you and the (typical) systemd haters are basically saying is that the Model T should be "good enough" for everyone.

Why bother with vaccines when getting sick and dying have worked fine for most people as well? Why bother with a smart phone when the telegraph has worked fine? or wheels or electricity or gunpowder or etc etc etc etc.

Your sound like the rare exception to the rule. I was recently on a job hunt and put my resume up on dice and monster. I immediately started getting phone calls from people who could barely speak english and wanted me to accept senoir level offers in the SF Bay area for $40/hour with no relocation package. After doing a bit of research, I quickly realized that $40/hour in SF Bay is absolute chump change. I have a wife and 2 kids and that basically leaves me a poverty level unless I want a 2 hour commute wach way. I'd get them up to something reasonable like $85.00/hour and they would mysteriously stop callinf me back. I'm assuming it's because they found a better chump..
